Reaching Higher
Message from the Principal
Monday marks the start of the 2026–27 school year, and after recording our highest registration numbers yet, we are pumped for our best year ever!
First days bring a mix of excitement and nerves. To help your child feel confident and calm from the moment they step through the doors, please review these key details with them before Monday:
7:25 AM — Doors Open: Students should head straight to their lockers. Adults will be stationed throughout the hallways to help with combinations and directions.
Breakfast: Grab-and-go options will be available in the main commons.
Where to Go First:
7th Grade: Report to the Gym
8th Grade: Report to the Cafeteria
Breakout Sessions: Students will start in their assigned area for a quick breakout session to verify schedules and ask questions before heading to 1st hour.
Afternoon Dismissal & Buses: Extra staff will be on hand to assist with busing. We plan to dismiss students slightly early on Day 1 to ensure all buses depart smoothly and on time.
Thank you for your partnership, and please reach out if you have any questions before Monday!
Sincerely,
Jason Hernandez
Absences
We appreciate the communication our office is receiving when your child is not able to come to school. In some cases, when information is left on the absent voicemail it may take some time to process and input the information. Please allow us 24 hours to ensure attendance is accurate before calling in to verify attendance. We will continue to do our very best to make sure attendance is accurate and completed in a timely manner. Additionally, please make sure to communicate through the office when your students must be picked up from school. This will help us to ensure your child's safety.
Transportation Information
Bus routes are now available in your PowerSchool Parent Portal and will update nightly to reflect any future address changes. Please click link below for information on how to access this information from the website.
If you have any questions, please contact the transportation department at 231-719-0110.
Student Drop Off and Pick Up
Our goal for drop off and pick up is to ensure the safety of students and staff while providing an efficient process. Please read the reminders below to support this process.
Pull all the way forward in the circle drive, as far as possible.
Make sure your student is ready to exit the car in the morning, and quick to enter the car after school.
Please do not park in the circle drive.
Avoid dropping students off in the bus area after 7:30 (see diagram).
Be patient and drive slowly in all parking lots. Staff and students are walking in parking lots before and after school, we need to ensure their safety.
RPMS Open House **Date Change**
To accommodate as many families as possible, Open House has been rescheduled for Tuesday, September 1st at 6:30 PM—a time that avoids conflicts for our football and sideline cheer teams. This event is a great way for parents and students to connect with staff and prepare for the year ahead. More information will follow soon!
Medication
Medications which need to be taken in school must be administered by certified school personnel (or designee) in the presence of another adult. Parents must bring medication to the school office in the original container and fill out the proper form. Students should not be in posession of medication while at school.
Contact the office if you have any questions.
Backpacks & Lockers
Students should place backpacks in their lockers after entering the building. Students are not permitted to carry backpacks from class to class during the school day. This includes any bags/purses/pouches larger than a pencil case.
Multiple staff members will be available throughout the first week of school, and beyond, to support students with opening lockers. Please encourage your student to open their locker as often as possible so they learn this important skill. All students have access to a locker and should refrain from sharing lockers with peers.
**Remind your student that practice and patience is key.
Chromebooks
Students will have access to district provided Chromebooks at school through the use of classroom Chromebook carts. Students are not permitted to use personal devices during the school day.
Kindness Wednesdays
As a way to promote kindness at Reeths-Puffer Middle School, students and staff are encouraged to wear shirts that communicate a message of kindness towards others. Additionally, a simple kindness challenge will be posted every Wednesday to spread kindness to others. Students will have the opportunity to win kindness t-shirts throughout the school year as part of our Friday Rocket Recognition.
Schedule Changes
Please know that we have done our best to create schedules that honor the elective requests students submitted last spring.
Due to a number of factors, including balancing class sizes and ensuring students have the courses they need, we are unable to process schedule change requests at this time. Please also be aware that schedules are subject to change for the same reasons.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to a great school year!
Please use the list above as a handy guide for your back-to-school shopping! While team assignments haven't been finalized just yet, most core supplies are standard across all teams. Detailed schedules—including final team placements and elective classes—will be provided at registration.
Nut-Free Zone
To ensure the safety of all students, especially those with nut allergies, we'll be designating specific classrooms and cafeteria tables as nut-free zones. These areas will be clearly marked for everyone's awareness (See signage below).
We kindly ask that students refrain from bringing nuts or nut-containing products into these areas. If your child has a nut allergy, please inform the office and their teachers if you've not done so already.
Here are some tips to help your child maintain a safe environment in the nut-free zones:
- Remind your child to check labels carefully for ingredients containing nuts.
- Discuss the importance of not sharing food with classmates.
- Encourage your child to wash their hands and avoid touching communal food items.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us create a safe and inclusive learning space for all students.
Roxy is excited to join our Reeths-Puffer MIddle School team. She is a four year old Australian Shepherd that loves to chase and fetch balls, go for walks, receive treats and affection from humans.
