Celebrating 50 Years of Faith, Family & Community! What a special week to be a Cougar! As we celebrate Homecoming Week and 50 years of Lenawee Christian School, we are reminded that LCS is much more than a school—it is a community built on the legacy of the family of Orville and Ruth Merillat, Richard and Lynette Merillat, and our very own President Tricia and David Merillat McGuire. The mission of Lenawee Christian School exists in partnership with the family and church to integrate Biblical truth for life with a commitment to glorifying Jesus Christ through academic excellence and spiritual maturity.
For five decades, God has faithfully used countless students, families, staff, alumni, churches, and community members to help shape the story of LCS. This week, we celebrate not only where we have been, but also the exciting future God has ahead.
Here's to 50 years of God's faithfulness and to the many generations still to come!

This week students brought home a special invitation for our Pastoral Appreciation Brunch on October 28. Please make sure your child gives the invitation to their pastor and personally invites them to join us!
We also challenge students to write a personal message on the back sharing why they appreciate their pastor. Let’s make this invitation extra meaningful!
Bring A Friend To LCS Day
Invite a Friend to Experience LCS!
This fall, we’re excited to host Bring a Friend to LCS Day on October 28, giving our students the opportunity to invite a friend to experience a day at LCS, including classes, chapel, activities, lunch, and more. Keep an eye out! Your child will soon be bringing home a special invitation to share with a friend.
And remember, your invitation can make a difference! Our LCS families also have the opportunity to receive a $500 tuition credit through an LCS Referral Bonus when a family they refer enrolls and stays at LCS. You can read more about the LCS Referral Bonus below.
Watch for more details in our next newsletter…and start thinking about who your child might want to invite!

Weekly Chapel Update
In chapel, we talked about what it looks like to ROAR in the classroom and beyond. Connecting to our theme, Rooted in Faith, Growing in Grace, and Colossians 2:6-7, we reminded students that just like plants need strong roots to grow, we need to stay rooted in Jesus. Growing also means we won't always get it right - we can tell the truth, ask forgiveness, learn from our mistakes, and try again.
Through the story of the Good Samaritan, students learned three simple ways to show the love of Jesus: notice, stop, and help. We challenged them to look for people who may need a friend, encouragement, or a helping hand.
We also practiced our ROAR expectations:
R – Respectful: Include someone.
O – Obedient: Follow directions.
A – Accountable: Tell the truth.
R – Responsible: Do your part.
We ended chapel by celebrating our first Students of the Month of the school year! We are excited to continue recognizing students who demonstrate what it means to ROAR at LCS.
Talk About It at Home: Ask your child what each letter in ROAR stands for, what they learned from the Good Samaritan, and how they put their ROAR mission into action this week.
Let's keep encouraging our students to ROAR in the classroom and beyond!
Fire Safety Day
Our K-5 students will have the opportunity to learn about fire safety from our very own Adrian Fire Department on Friday, October 9! They will learn many valuable things such as having a family fire safety plan, knowing their address and the importance of smoke alarms. They will even have a chance to get an up-close look at the fire trucks!
This is a student only event, but we know they will love sharing all they learned!
Chapel Update
In secondary chapel, our senior Homecoming candidates took time to share their testimonies, reflect on their years at Lenawee Christian School, and thank the people who have made a meaningful impact on their lives. It was a special opportunity for our students to be reminded to slow down and appreciate the people, experiences, and opportunities God has placed around them.
We are thankful for the example our seniors continue to set as they point us back to Jesus and the importance of being grateful for the community He has given us.
Community Service Hours - High School Only
Community service is a graduation requirement. Students in 9-12 grade must complete 10 hours of unpaid community service each school year, outside of Community Service Day and NHS requirements.
Deadlines:
- January 20: 5 hours for 1st semester
- May 1: 5 hours for 2nd semester
Service logs are available in the High School Office, Registrar’s Office, and on the LCS website. Completed logs should be turned in to the Registrar’s Office and must be verified by someone other than a parent/guardian. Students looking for service opportunities at LCS can see or email Mrs. Chadek (jchadek@lenawee.org).
