CMLSD CLOSED Monday, April 8th
On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America. On this date, people within a 124-mile-wide band in the state of Ohio will experience a total solar eclipse. Only 21 total solar eclipses have crossed the lower 48 states in the entire existence of the United States. More information about the eclipse can be found at https://science.nasa.gov/eclipses/future-eclipses/eclipse-2024/where-when.
Due to this rare and spectacular event, and with Ohioans traveling to near our county, we need to prepare how it will affect our regular school day. Clinton-Massie Local Schools will be closed on April 8th, 2024. Students and staff will return to a normal school day on Tuesday, April, 9th 2024.

College Credit Plus (CCP) information for 2024-2025
Hello. Students in grades 7-12 are eligible to participate in College Credit Plus (CCP) for the 2025-2025 school year. CCP is a dual-enrollment program in which students can take classes through colleges to earn both college and high school credits at the same time. If you don't plan to participate next year, you can disregard this email. For those who are interested, see below for the information you'll need to get started.
All students (those new to CCP and those who have already taken CCP) must:
1. Have either attended the information session at CMHS or another local school OR view the online information session.
2. Complete the Letter of Intent to Participate in CCP for the 2024-2025 school year. This must be completed by April 1 or the student will not be eligible for CCP.
3. Determine whether you need further placement testing. If you passed the WritePlacer last year, but you want to take a math or science course this year, you may need to take the ALEKS.
Students who are new to CCP must also:
1. Apply to the college(s) to which they want to apply (via the college's website; just Google the college's name and "CCP information").
2. Determine whether the student will need to test. All students in grades 7-10 will need to take placement testing at the college. Students who will be in grades 11-12 may have to test, depending on the courses you have taken previously and your GPA. If you have two English credits and three math credits (including an A or a B in Algebra II), you likely won't need to test. You can see your school counselor for more information.
3. Contact the college to set up placement testing. Some schools have a "virtual" testing option, in which you can take the placement test online with a college proctor watching you test. Otherwise, you'll go to the college campus for placement testing. If you are planning to take course work in English, the social science fields (history, psychology, etc.), then you'll need to take the WritePlacer. You must have a five or higher on the WritePlacer in order to participate in CCP. If you get a four or below, you will need to retest. If you're planning to take course work in math and science, you'll take the ALEKS. If you're taking both, you'll need to take both tests. If you're not sure which test you'll need, see your counselor.
Deadlines for all students:
1. April 1--Letter of Intent must be submitted
2. June 1--all students must have their college application(s) submitted AND have their testing completed in order to participate in CCP at CMHS with our teachers. Failure to meet that deadline will result in the student being removed from the CCP roster and placed into high school credit only courses. After that time, students who complete their application/testing can participate in CCP, but it will only be for online courses/courses at the campus. Please note that colleges are burdened with thousands of applications; do not delay to apply. Once your application has been submitted, it can take up to a month to be fully processed by the college. Get your application submitted and testing scheduled ASAP.
If you have any questions that aren't answered in the Slideshow or video linked above, please feel free to reach out to your counselor. You can also contact the CCP Office of the college(s) to which you're applying.

Senior Yearbook Reminders
Friendly reminder that you have less than 1 month to turn in Senior Pictures, Quotes and Then-And-Now friend photos. THEY ARE DUE APRIL 12TH. At this time, only 13 seniors have turned in photos. Please get this done! Email them to cmhsyearbook@gmail.com. I will send you a confirmation email if I have received them.
Dear Parent(s) or Guardian(s) of a Clinton-Massie 2024 senior:
Your son or daughter will soon be graduating from Clinton-Massie! Senior memories are precious and should be cherished. We offer several opportunities to highlight seniors throughout our yearbook, which are detailed in this letter.
To purchase a yearbook, go to https://www.jostens.com/apps/store/customer/1050023/Clinton-Massie-High-School/
Senior yearbooks will be mailed to your house in August of 2024. Please make sure the address listed when you purchase your book is correct. That is where the book will be sent.
Senior portraits and quotes
Portraits and quotes can be sent (together if possible) to cmhsyearbook@gmail.com. Portraits need to be sent at the highest resolution possible and ideally from the original file. Portraits should be:
At least 300 dpi.
Submitted as a .jpeg file.
At least 300 by 600 pixels.
Vertically oriented to fit portrait boxes. (Horizontal photos will be cropped.) Selfies will not be accepted.
HOWEVER, some cell phones take excellent pictures, as long as it isn’t blurry, I will use it for the book. So, do not feel like you have to hire a professional photographer to make sure your student is included in the book. We want everyone to have a picture. If you do not send in a picture, we will use the pictures taken by Lifetouch or you will be listed as "not pictured".
Quotes should not exceed 120 characters. They must be school appropriate and can be rejected. If the quote is rejected, you will be notified and given one opportunity to provide a new quote. PORTRAITS AND QUOTES ARE DUE APRIL 12th, 2024.
Recognition Ads
The Clinton-Massie High School yearbook devotes a special section to senior ads. Each recognition ad includes a picture(s) (baby, childhood, and current are all encouraged) of each participating senior and a brief message of support and or congratulations from their family. Family members can work with a variety of templates to design a personalized ad for their graduate. To purchase and design an ad, go to https://www.jostens.com/apps/store/customer/1050023/Clinton-Massie-High-School/. Ads are $40 for a quarter page, $70 for a half page, and $140 for a full page. The deadline to purchase recognition ads is May 10th, 2024.
Then-and-Now Friend photos:
Then-and-Now photos are recreations of childhood group/friend photos (usually pre-K through 8th grade) to highlight friendships throughout the years. Seniors can recreate these with other seniors. We do not take individual Then-and-Now photos, that’s what the recognition ads are for. There is no purchase required for Then-and-Nows, but space is limited, so we may not be able to accept more than one per student depending on space. Please indicate in your submission which photos you would like prioritized for use in the yearbook. Please send both photos to cmhsyearbook@gmail.com. The deadline for Then-and-Nows is also April 12th, 2024.
Deadline recap/timeline:
April 12th: Portraits, quotes, and Then-and-Nows Due
May 11th: Recognition Ads Due
May 20th: Final yearbook orders
