Wow—Portal is at it again, showing our community just how generous we are! This season, our students and families donated a total of 389 toys to the Children’s Hospital, and the staff there shared how thrilled they were to receive our gifts!!!

A special thank-you to our Star Council for coordinating this meaningful event, along with their dedicated teachers, Ms. Chesley and Ms. Rogers. Your leadership and service truly shine.

Thank you to everyone who contributed for making this winter season brighter for children in our community. Your kindness makes a difference!

A huge shout out to Ms. Chesley's 5th Grade class for being the December Spirit Wear winners!

Online enrollment for 2026-2027 school year is now open.

You can enroll at https://enrollment.esu3.org/Login.aspx?sdist=plv . Currently enrolled preschoolers who are planning to attend Kindergarten, MUST STILL SUBMIT an online enrollment application as it’s a starting point for gathering required immunizations and other Kindergarten specific documentation.

We certainly hope you’ll take advantage of online enrollment so you can start receiving information about upcoming Kindergarten preparation activities, most importantly, Kindergarten Round Up which is in the Spring, date to be determined. Tell your friends!

Do you ever struggle with buying gifts for school staff over the holiday – who to include, what to get, when to send it? The PTO may have a solution for you! With your help, we provide a monetary holiday gift to each staff member. All the money collected will be combined together and divided equally amongst all the staff and distributed before winter break with a letter with each student's name.

Help us support the Staff that support our students. To donate, Venmo @Portal-PTO or send a check to the office identified as Staff Giving on the envelope and including your student(s) name by Tuesday, December 16th. For more information, please go to https://portal.plcschools.org/families/pto or contact Jessica Palimenio (jpalimenio@hotmail.com).

Thank you,

Moments that Matter

Momentum Matters

It is hard to believe we are nearing the end of our first semester! It has been a semester filled with academic highlights and growth. December is a busy month, and students can feel the excitement of the upcoming break, but this final stretch is full of meaningful learning and celebrations of their progress. Our classroom communities have become wonderful spaces for students to explore their academic and social interests and thrive.

We encourage all families to help their children Stay Present Every Day so they can finish the semester strong and confident!

Portal Families,

We want you to be aware that our new kitchen is almost complete and we are anticipating that it will be functional when we return from Winter Break. We are very excited to have this phase of construction complete! When we return, our students will have two hot lunch options in addition to the daily yogurt option. We have attached the January lunch menu below & you can always find the lunch menus by going to our district website at www.plcschools.org

Also, if you are wanting to have lunch with your student, you will notice the sign up doesn't begin until January 20th. This is to help us set lunch room expectations during those first weeks back and transition to a new cafeteria layout.

Thank you for understanding!

Birthdays are a special occasion, and we enjoy celebrating them at school. Each student is recognized on their special day or 1/2 birthday with a birthday book from the office! If you would like to provide something for your child’s class, we ask that you bring non-food items such as pencils, stickers, or other small trinkets. To ensure the safety of all students, outside food is not permitted due to the variety of food allergies within our school community. Thank you for your continued support!
