The Weekly Words
January 4, 2026
At Noble Elementary, we believe that every student has the right to learn and grow in a safe and respectful environment. We also believe that every student has the power to make positive choices, learn from mistakes, and become stronger leaders in our school community. Noble Elementary empowers all students for college and career readiness through AVID’s schoolwide focus on WICOR, student success skills, and a growth mindset.
Welcome back! I hope you had time over the break to rest, recharge, and enjoy meaningful moments with those you love. As we begin this new year together, our attention is renewed and focused on the important work ahead, supporting our students, strengthening our practices, and continuing to grow as a team.

Re-Commitment
Team,
How do you plan to recommit to the work and show up as your best self each day?
With a new year comes a fresh start. While the feeling of a "new chapter" is exciting and liberating, it also brings the need for recommitment.
It's our responsibility as the adults to reflect and recommit to our core duties in serving our kids and pushing ourselves to be better each day for them. This new year will bring inspirational moments, stiff challenges, and the formation of strong bonds between colleagues and students.
Join me in being that "push" to our students and ourselves to believe that everyday matters and has impact. It's up to us to put in the work and ensure that the impact of our efforts each day is positive and conducive to student success!
Optional: Share one specific way you are recommitting to the work, something you will intentionally do to ensure that every day matters and that your impact on students is positive and supports their success. Submit your reflection to be entered into this week’s Weekly Words Raffle. Let’s challenge ourselves and each other to believe in the power of our daily actions and to put in the work that makes a difference.
Mr. Walker, M.Ed.
Principal
From the Assistant Principal's Desk
Hi Team,
The New Year offers a natural reset. I remember my first year of teaching, walking back into my classroom after winter break felt different. I was different, and the students were different. The second half of my year looked nothing like the first, in the best way.
As we return this week, I want to encourage you to lean into the reset this break provides. Consider intentionally carving out time to revisit and practice classroom routines; with clarity, purpose, and patience. This is a powerful opportunity to reconnect around our Big 4 and reflect on how these qualities prepare our students not only for success at Noble, but for life beyond it.
I know the pressure of the scope and sequence is real. And still, I encourage you to take a day—or an afternoon, or even a morning—to ground students in expectations and give them opportunities to practice and discuss the why. Our PBIS expectations are available to support you in this work.
Thank you for the care, consistency, and commitment you bring to your classrooms every day. We’re excited to start this next chapter together.

The District has adopted a plan for communications with persons with disabilities, which is available at the following link: Communication Plan. Bogus: Last day for Grade 1 intervention group – January 8
Salvatore/Holyk: Last day for 5th grade ELA groups – December 19

A heads-up that the second round of grade-level MTSS meetings will be held the first week of February.
Action Item: Interim Preparation in TBTs
For Grades 3-5, Interim Testing begins December 15 - January 23. From discussions, it appears as though teams are waiting until January to administer the interims. Please utilize time in TBTs this week and next to schedule your Interims, using the spreadsheet below and review the Before, During, and After + FAQ document prepared by C&I.
Fall Interim Analysis - District-Wide
On behalf of the C&I team, we are sharing the complete Q1 interim assessment analysis document for Math (3rd through Algebra), ELA (4th through ELA II), and Science (5th, 8th, and Biology).
C&I recognizes that this analysis is being distributed well after the Q1 assessments were administered, but we believe this comprehensive, district-level performance data remains beneficial for reflection and informing your current instructional strategies. Please use this information to pinpoint specific areas of strength and weakness within your classes.
C&I is committed to providing more timely data moving forward; their plan is to conduct and release a similar district-level analysis as quickly as possible following the completion of the Q2 interim assessments to ensure the information is actionable for the remainder of the school year.
