CoyoteConnectionWeekly News at Reidy Creek Elementary School 5/2/2025

Dear Reidy Creek Families,

It was another busy week here at Reidy Creek as third, fourth, and fifth-grade students prepared for State Testing, which begins on Tuesday morning. Here is the schedule for next week:

  • Tuesday, May 6th: English Language Arts Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) 8:15-9:45

  • Wednesday, May 7th and Thursday, May 8th: ELA Performance Task (PT) 8:15-9:45

  • Friday, May 9th: Makeups

All of our students have been getting ready for this test over the last few weeks. There are also several ways that you can help your child prepare for the assessment:

  • Explain to your child that these tests are tools to help them learn, and they should not be anxious or scared.

  • Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast before testing.

  • Please do not plan additional vacations or appointments during the next three weeks that may cause your child to miss school unnecessarily.

  • Please ensure that your child comes to school on time each day so they are not rushed in the morning.

You will receive your child’s results at or before the beginning of the next school year. The results will identify your child's strengths and/or where he/she may need more support. This is invaluable information as we begin the new school year. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding SBAC testing.

On Wednesday evening, we also celebrated two fifth-grade students who received this year's Rotary Awards. Our Outstanding Scholar award went to Elena Gillie, and the Service Above Self Award was given to Emily Spellman. It was a wonderful opportunity to honor two fifth-grade students' accomplishments this year.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Staff Appreciation Week Staff Appreciation Week

Staff Appreciation Week is next week! If you'd like to do something for a teacher or a staff member to show your appreciation, here are some suggestions!

  • Handwritten Notes & Artwork: Encourage your child to write a short “thank you” note or create a colorful drawing for a favorite staff member. Drop these in our “Appreciation Box” in the front office all week long and we'll make sure they get delivered.

  • Treat Surprise: Surprise a teacher or a staff member with their favorite treat or beverage throughout the week.

  • Classroom Supplies: Treat the class and students to a new book, or fun classroom activity.

  • Coyote Shout‑Outs: Head to the main office and fill out a "Coyote Shout Out" to recognize someone special on campus.

Thank you for helping us make Staff Appreciation Week memorable!

Following Open House will be our FAVE Art Festival. With many games, crafts, artwork, performances, and auction items, it is definitely an event you don't want to miss!
