The North Little Rock Board of Education approved course updates and graduation changes presented by the leaders of North Little Rock High School and the Center of Excellence. The courses will be available to students next school year and above.

Mr. Jacob Smith, the Executive Director of Human Resources for the North Little Rock School District, presented two school calendar options for the 2024-2025 school year. The calendars were drafted through collaboration with the district, and the two employee groups -- the Licensed Personnel Policies Committee (LPPC) and the Classified Personnel Policies Committee (CPPC). Employees are voting at this time on the calendar that they prefer, and the results will be brought before the Board of Education in the near future.

Mr. Gary Logan, the Executive Director of Student-Centered Support Services, presented information on School Choice options in the district. School Choice is the process of requesting a transfer for your student from the district in which you live to a district in which you do not live. Applications and the necessary documents must be submitted by May 1.

Mr. Brian Brown, the Chief Financial Officer, and Mr. Darrell Tessman, Facilities Coordinator at Arch Ford Education Service Cooperative, presented the district's Master Plan. The Master Plan is a comprehensive six year facility improvement plan that school districts are required by law to complete and keep updated, is the foundation of the facilities program by February 1. (A.C.A. §6-21-806). The district’s plan includes enrollment projections, plans and time tables to correct school deficiencies, the status of corrections, how the district plans to deal with growth, custodial and maintenance programs, building systems replacement (life-cycle) and other critical information.
