FSHS Principal Scott Kimble Recognized!
Mr. Kimble has been selected to the Kansas Association of School Boards' Leadership for Tomorrow (LFT) Class of 2025. Participants are nominated and then chosen through an application process that focuses on individual leadership in Kansas public education and participation in activities that promote effective governance and raise student achievement. LFT gives board members, superintendents and administrators time to explore change theories and strategies, participate in leadership skill training and expand understanding of education and key issues for effective governance and raising student achievement. Through five two-day sessions, the class will visit local schools, hear classroom presentations and participate in class discussions of issues and challenges facing Kansas education. At the end of the program, LFT members walk away with a new set of skills and knowledge that better prepares them for success in leading the modern education environment.

TAKE STATE, TIGER WRESTLERS!
MORE TIGERS EXCEL!
The competition for placement in these groups is staggering!
Vocalists for State Choir are selected from auditions held throughout Kansas in November.
Fewer than a dozen second sopranos from Southeast Kansas make one of the state choirs.
Each district gets a different number of students in the groups based on music enrollment.
Our Southeast Kansas district had more than 70 second sopranos vying for one of TEN spots!
Orchestra auditions are a free-for-all with no mandated representation.
Out of 150 students selected for State Orchestra only TWO students from Southeast Kansas made the cut. John Ravenscraft, a sophomore, muscled his way into a spot surrounded by cellists from Kansas City, Wichita, Lawrence and Manhattan.
Junie and John will rehearse with their respective ensembles on Thursday & Friday, February 27th & 28th, and perform Saturday morning, March 1st, at the close of the Kansas Music Educators Workshop.
