Dear Families and Staff,

As a district, we believe it is important to communicate openly with our families and staff, which is why I am writing to share information about a sensitive situation. Today, the St. Peters Police Department arrested and charged a former SSD teacher, Ryan Zull, with inappropriate contact involving a minor. The reported victim is not an SSD student, and at this time, we have no reason to believe any SSD students are involved.

Zull was employed by SSD from August 2020 through May 2024 and worked at Cross Keys Middle School in the Ferguson-Florissant School District. As with all employees, this individual completed required background screening before beginning work with the District, including FBI fingerprinting and Family Care Safety Registry clearance.

Any allegation that an employee may have engaged in inappropriate behavior is deeply concerning. Our classrooms are places where students should always feel safe, and we take all reports of staff misconduct seriously. While SSD is not aware of any additional allegations involving our district, we strongly encourage anyone with related information to contact the St. Peters Police Department at 636-278-1000. Law enforcement will receive our full cooperation as needed for their investigation.

We remain focused on the safety and well-being of our students, and I am committed to ensuring our actions reflect that priority.

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership.

Sincerely,

Dr. Michael Maclin
