A Message from Mrs. Britton
Dear Families,
We are so excited to be wrapping up PSSA testing! Thank you for your flexibility and support. We truly felt it from our students, staff, and families, and it helped everything run smoothly. We are looking forward to getting back to our normal schedule for all grades on Monday.
Our April Birthday Bash needed to be adjusted this year. April was a short and very busy month. We returned from spring break on April 7th, and two full weeks were dedicated to testing, which significantly changed our daily schedule. As a result, it was not possible to hold one celebration for all students.
Instead, I will be celebrating our April birthdays throughout this week during lunches:
Monday: Grades 1 & 4
Tuesday: Grade 2
Thursday: Grades 3 & 5
As parents and guardians, you are such an important part of our school community. If you have a few minutes, we would really appreciate your feedback on the Spring 2026 โ Parent/Guardian Survey: Engagement & School Climate.
It is hard to believe we are already in May. This is always a fun and very busy time of year. Thank you again for your flexibility and understanding.
Warmly,
Michelle Britton
Congratulations to our Law Day Poster Contest winners! ๐
A special shoutout to our talented second grade students from Mrs. Fordโs and Mr. Pintoโs classes for their outstanding work. Your creativity and thoughtful designs truly brought this yearโs Law Day theme to life. We are so proud of you! Thank you to all of our students who participated. You made this celebration meaningful and inspiring.

Save the Date: 5th Grade Recognition
We are excited to celebrate our 5th grade students at our Recognition Ceremony on June 10 at 9:00 AM in the Indian Lane Cafeteria. This event recognizes our studentsโ accomplishments as they prepare for their transition to middle school. A formal email invitation with RSVP details will be sent to families on May 10th at 7:00 PM. Due to our large class of 88 students and limited seating, and because 5th grade families will be decorating the gym the evening before for the end of year celebration, space in the cafeteria is limited. We ask that families carefully consider their needs when submitting ticket requests. Each household may request up to four tickets, but please only request the number you will use. After requests are submitted, tickets will be allocated and sent home with students in their backpacks prior to the ceremony. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to make this a meaningful experience for all students and families.
End of Year Reflection for Parents (Due: May 18th)

When she isnโt drawing, she loves getting lost in a good book or spending time with her dog. Arley lives in Toronto.

Michael Sampson, PhD, is an author and Professor of Literacy at St. Johnโs University in New York City. Sunscreen Permission Form
The sun has made a return! Parents are encouraged to apply sunscreen onto their students before coming to school each day or use sun protective clothing to protect their skin. If you would like your student to have sunscreen at school, it must be non-aerosol and able to be applied by the student. There is a Sunscreen Permission Form that also needs to be completed and returned. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
Poetry Cafรฉ 2026 Schedule - May 15-22
Mark Your Calendar: You're Invited!
Poetry Cafรฉ is an opportunity for students to practice important speaking and listening skills in a fun and positive way. Students are also exposed to an appreciation of poetry and creativity. We hope you can make it to our Poetry Cafรฉ to hear the children read their favorite published poems and/or original poems in our wonderful library. It's a cafรฉ, so there will be snacks, too. Guests are encouraged to bring poems to share. The kids absolutely love this part! Email Mrs. Hatton at thatton@rtmsd.org with any questions.
Run the Lane Registration is Now Open!
This race serves as a fundraiser for the NK Smiles Scholarship Fund, named in honor and memory of the late Norm Kelly, Jr., a beloved elementary school teacher in the Rose Tree Media School District. Mr. Kelly passed away in August 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. He left a lasting impact on the community as an educator, youth lacrosse coach, and friend to many.
Each year, the NK Smiles Scholarship is awarded to one male and one female Penncrest senior lacrosse player, as well as to students pursuing careers in education. Proceeds from Run the Lane directly support this meaningful scholarship fund.
Like this year, this year, anyone who registers by May 20th is guaranteed a T-shirt! Each shirt will be bagged in advance. We hope you will join us in honoring Mr. Kellyโs legacy and supporting this special cause.
