Please check your student’s planner for the most up-to-date information. Sometimes our plans change, and we may be on a different lesson than originally scheduled.
Reminder on Late/Not Completed Work
Any work/homework not completed/turned in by the required deadline (a week after assigned) will be marked as HALF credit.
I strongly encourage students to ask questions during independent work time in class, Work Period, and to email with questions so that they have every opportunity to complete their homework and have their questions answered.
Late work must be completed by the term late work due date to receive half credit, after that assignments will be marked as zero in the gradebook.

Every other week, our students have the opportunity to read with our kindergarten students, building friendships and fostering a love of reading.
Programs We Will Use This Year
Amplify ELA
This year, our students are stepping into a rigorous, exciting English Language Arts curriculum called Amplify ELA. This program builds strong readers, writers, and critical thinkers by diving into fascinating texts and real-world debates.
Here is a breakdown of what your child will learn and how you can support them at home.
What Students Learn
- Deep Reading: Students analyze complex texts rather than just skimming for plot.
- Evidence-Based Writing: Writing focuses on using specific details from texts to prove a point.
- Collaborative Debates: Class discussions encourage students to share ideas and challenge perspectives.
How to Help at Home
- Ask Big Questions: Instead of "How was school?", ask "What text did you debate today?"
- Check the Progress: Have your child log into Amplify to show you their recent writing feedback.
- Encourage Independent Reading: Reading anything for 20 minutes a day drastically boosts vocabulary.
