CELC News & Updates

Hello Creekside Families,

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope you had a blessed and restful winter break. Thank you to all of you that ordered from one Square One Art. This is such a cool fundraiser. Orders can still be placed. To view your child's project go to https://shop.square1art.com/Shop/artwork/Search. You need to enter our school name and the student's name. Once you find the art work, you can start shopping! As you heard from the communication from Dr. Newman, the district will be postponing the start of Phase Three. We will make sure that we share any updates.

Here are some updates and reminders to help keep you informed:

EAK registration is open- we have a few spots left. Spread the word! EAK starts in-person learning on January 19. We will be doing an A/B schedule with the rest of the campus. Parents will be notified of their student's schedule early this week. We will be working to ensure that siblings are on the same schedule.
Pastries with the Principal is scheduled for Thursday, February 4th at 9:30am. See flyer and Zoom link below.
Thank you for your continued support with following our protocols while on campus: respecting the drop off/pick up times, wearing a mask, and leaving campus promptly after drop off and pick up.

The district continues to serve food during our Hybrid Schedule on Mondays from 11:00am to 12:30pm at JMMS to AUSD families. If that time doesn't work for you, there is also a 5:00 pm pick up.
Child Nutrition Services is offering a snack pick up for students at CELC during pick up times. Hybrid A parents may pick up snacks on Mondays, and Hybrid B parents may pick up snacks on Thursdays. The grab and go snack bag will contain 5 days worth of snacks. This is available to all students 18 and under. See flyer below for more information.
Please report all absences to the office. We are required to trace all absences. Illnesses may require a 10-14 day stay at home. All students that are out for any reason will be temporarily assigned to distance learning. They can receive credit for their time off campus if they complete work online.
Every Monday is College Spirit Day. Wear your favorite college shirt!
Join us for VIRTUAL FUN FRIDAYS. This Friday, January 8 is Dress Like Snowman Day! Wear white or if you happen to have an Olaf shirt....that would be SUPER cute. Post a picture of you in your "snowman" outfit using #virtualfunfriday, #nationalcookieday.

The district is still providing free wifi access at CELC, SHES, JMMS, and BOES. Just park in the lot and log in. The wifi name is AlpineUnited and no password is needed.

Congratulations Charlene Brown

For those of you who haven't heard, our beloved CELC Secretary has been promoted to a position at the AUSD Office. She has been the heart of Creekside for so many years! Charlene will be missed beyond words. However, we are proud of her accomplishment and are all very excited for her new adventure. We will be welcoming Stephanie Green to the CELC Secretary position on Monday, January 4. Thankfully, the District Office is going to let Charlene hang out a few mornings to help with the transition. It is kind of cute that our office will now how a Mrs. Green instead of a Mrs. Brown. It's so fitting for a kindergarten campus!

The district would like to increase the number of substitute teachers in our pool. The pay has increased to $200 dollars a day. Please help spread the word. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Mrs. Ripke.

Cubs in the Community

The 2020-21 “Cubs in the Community” is on a roll. Connecting with kids is one of the most essential parts of building relationships and fostering learning. Mrs. Ripke has set a goal to connect with 100 future, current, and former Cubs in the community by the 100th day of school. If you spot Mrs. Ripke out in the community, please say hi and take a picture with her. Former CELC staff count too! Our pictures may look different this year due to social distancing; however, all of the love will still be there! She can’t wait to hand out hugs again when it is safe. Mrs. Ripke is up to 32 Cub Sightings. See Former Cub Sighting #32 below.

COVID-19 Testing & Flu Shots

At our last COVID-19 testing day in December, CALFire tested 606 people which is a new record number of tests in one day.

Our next COVID-19 test and flu shot date is scheduled for Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Testing will take place from 9:00 am - 2:30 pm at JMMS. All staff and community members are welcome to get COVID-19 testing and flu shots free of charge.

Virtual Fun Fridays

To help foster school spirit and stay connected during Distance Learning, the Alpine Union School District will post Virtual Fun Friday Dress Up Days. Postings will be on the AUSD Facebook and Instagram Pages. If you are not already following us on FB or IG, please join us! We hope that you will all participate and post pictures on social media using the hashtags provided. CELC parents may email the pictures to Mrs. Ripke at tripke@alpineschools.net.
