Power Up PL Summit - Summer 2020
Please see the information about Power Up PL in your email from Natalie Smith.
Be sure to mark your calendars for the Power Up PL Summit happening the week of June 15—18, 2020. The summit will be a mix of national expert keynotes, peer to peer discussion, and collaborative planning around topics such as equity, book access for all, experiential learning, and researchers workshop. We also will host data inquiry cycle work for school or department teams to tackle problems of practice in their setting. All of this learning is free and open to any educator in Lexington County School District One. With participation you can earn recertification points towards your license renewal! Registration for this event will be available in April.
Access Testing - Our ELL students continue to be involved in Access testing. The whole group testing is completed. We have make-up testing and individual speaking sessions to complete. Thank you for your understanding with this process.
Lexington School District One Calendar Options
You have had the opportunity to review the calendars presented in the previous Friday Forecast. Beginning in August 2020, the district is proposing the use of eLearning days, instead of weather make-up days. They are still refining this process and it will be a work in progress to ensure things are working as efficiently as possible. Please click on the link to find out more about eLearning. Counselors' Corner
Dear Teachers,
As always, thank you for your continued support and flexibility. Just a few quick reminders. Please remember that if a student has a note or asks to speak with the counselor, please allow them to bring their note to the counselor or call to see if the counselor is available. Also remember that students are usually coming to speak to us about personal or private matters and we want to honor that and keep things confidential. If there is something that we feel would be in the students' best interest for you to know, we will come and talk with you about it. Lastly, don't forget about your calm down kits in the classroom! Our hope is that you are utilizing them to allow students to calm down so that they may remain in class and not miss important information. As always, we are here for you and our students and want to hear if there is ever anything that we can do for you. We hope you have a fantastic weekend, full of rest and self care! Ruth, Angela, and Elizabeth

Math
Have you seen the First in Math wall? There are so many kids who have earned 500+ stickers. If you send home a newsletter, encourage parents to have students play a few minutes at home if possible. This is a great opportunity for practice on basic skills. We would love to have all of our students on the wall.
Literacy Corner
Thanks to everyone for submitting the information needed to order your classroom library books. I am in the process of submitting the orders for those who gave a list of specific titles. For those who filled out the form describing your classroom library needs, you will receive a list sometime in the next week or so. You will be asked to review and edit or approve the list. The goal is to get this order completed by the end of the month.
