Join us for a fun and casual morning at the playground! Families with PreK and Kindergarten students are invited to connect at our J.O. Wilson Playdate at RFK on Saturday, May 31 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. We'll also be welcoming new families with younger children who will be joining J.O. in the fall. The PTA will provide snacks, drinks, and games — just bring your energy and smiles!

Attention 5th grade families! If your child will be attending Stuart-Hobson Middle School next year, don’t miss Terrific Taco Thursday on Thursday, June 5 from 5:00–6:30 PM at 410 E St. NE. This fun and informative event is designed to welcome incoming students and families for the 2025–26 school year. You'll get to:

• Meet teachers and staff

Due to weather-related closures earlier this year, there has been a change to the school calendar. While we previously shared that the last day of school for students would be Monday, June 17, please note that the new and final day of school for students is now Wednesday, June 18.

To meet the needs of our large school community, J.O. Wilson partners with three separate after-school providers, each serving specific grade levels. Please carefully review the breakdown below and register for the program that matches your child’s grade for the upcoming school year:

• 🌟 Polite Piggy’s: Serves PK3, PK4, and Kindergarten students.

• 📚 DCPS After-School Program: Serves students in 1st and 2nd grade.

• 🚀 Leading Edge: Serves students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade.

Each program is designed to provide a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate experience after school.

This program provides daily academic support, enrichment activities, and a free snack or supper — all in a fun, safe environment from the end of the school day until 6:00 PM.

We’re excited to announce that Leading Edge will serve as our after-school provider for students in Grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th for the 2025–2026 school year! Leading Edge offers a safe, fun, and enriching environment with activities like academic support, STEM, reading, physical play, and more. Flexible scheduling, OSSE voucher acceptance, and tuition assistance are available.

Volunteers are needed to help with morning set-up, overseeing various activities/stations, and afternoon clean-up. We need volunteers from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, June 6. Volunteers will be assigned to their posts upon check-in at the front office. All volunteers must register in advance to participate.
