Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year!

Dear Licton Springs K-8 Learning Community,

My name is Christy Bowman-White. I am a first-generation college graduate, that spent 10 years as a teacher in Highline Public schools and 10 years as leader in Seattle Public Schools, both as an Assistant Principal at Asa Mercer International Middle School and principal of Maple Elementary. In recent years, I have also served as a leadership coach and consultant, supporting school leaders with continuous school improvement planning across the Puget Sound region.

In March, I stepped in to support the Licton Springs community following the loss of Principal McWashington. Since that time, I have come to know Licton Springs as a unique and special community. I will continue serving as principal during the 2026-2027 school year.

My husband and I have three adult daughters, and 14-year-old twins who are starting high school this fall. We also have two pandemic rescue dogs, Joy and Lily, who bring a healthy amount of laughter and chaos to our lives.

As a leader, I am driven by a few core beliefs. I believe that each of us has great value and potential and deserves to be treated with respect. I believe that our purpose as an organization is to continually grow and get better, and that we are better together. I also believe that connection, joy, and fun matter.

My focus this school year will be to support the continual improvement of teaching and learning at Licton Springs while honoring and building on the strengths of our community. This will include:

1. Developing positive and productive relationships with our students, staff, families, and community partners

2. Learning about our school’s culture, stories, strengths and needs

3. Guiding and supporting our Continuous School Improvement Plan

4. Supporting staff in strengthening effective instruction and assessment practices.

I look forward to listening, learning, and working alongside you as we support our students and continue building on what makes Licton Springs special.

In Partnership,

Christy Bowman-White
Principal of Licton Springs K-8

Free Meals for All Students at Licton Springs

What is a Community Eligibility Provision School?

A community eligibility provision (CEP) school is for schools that have a 40 percent or higher number of students who qualify for free and reduced-price lunch.

CEP schools offer free meals (breakfast and lunch) for all students.

Does our family complete the school meal application?

Yes. Families at these schools should still complete the free student meals application to help our schools maintain federal and state funded programs.

Why is this survey important?

The School Meals Application provides your student’s school with a way to collect household income information. This information is important because it helps your school receive federal and state funding.

In addition to healthy and nutritious meals, the School Meals Application also helps to fund school programs, such as:

  • Before-school and after-school enrichment programs
  • School counselors
  • Health and wellness services
  • Resources for classrooms and teachers

Please complete the Online School Meal Application

Families with multiple students will only complete this form once. The form is simple to fill out and confidential. The information will only be used to help your school receive funding from state and federal programs.
