Student Artwork Honored by DESE!
Congratulations are in order for Brianna, a fourth grade student at the Sokolowski School!
Brianna's artwork was submitted to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) for inclusion in DESE's Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month celebration and her piece was selected! Her submission stood out among submissions by students and teachers from across Massachusetts. Brianna was able to visit DESE's Offices this week with family and friends to see her artwork on display!
Her piece will be shown at DESE's offices in Everett through the beginning of November. Today, Superintendent Dr. Almi G. Abeyta served as a panelist at DESE's annual Latin and Hispanic Heritage Month event where Brianna's work was on display for all to see. Congratulations Brianna!

Cinderella Ball
Oh what a Ball! 2nd grade ended the unit 'Cinderella Around the World' with a ball. Students wrote their own versions of Cinderella and their work was on display for all to see. Unfortunately at 9am, we had to leave the gym before we all turned back to pumpkins.
The students used the steps to the Engineering Design Process to create towers during Science.
Family Fun Night
What a fun night last night we had hosting our first Family Event of the school year! It was great to see so many families come out and celebrate the changing season but most importantly celebrate each other while creating lasting memories together! The Hooks Fall Fiesta was a complete success!
First Grade Storytellers
Our young authors have been hard at work writing their very own folktales inspired by Anansi the Spider. Each student imagined a clever new story where Anansi uses his tricky ways to outsmart a friend with plenty of surprises and laughter along the way!
Throughout the week, students brainstormed their ideas, drafted their stories, and revised to make their writing even stronger. We wrapped up the week with a special share, where everyone had the chance to read their stories aloud to classmates. The room was filled with proud smiles and lots of giggles as we celebrated their creativity and hard work.
We’re so proud of our first-grade storytellers!
Learning about the Journey of the Pilgrims
Third graders worked hard this week writing a cause and effect paragraph about the Pilgrims journey on the Mayflower. They used a cause and effect graphic organizer followed by a single paragraph outline to organize their ideas. Their work was amazing!
