BeeArtful
December, 2023
A letter from our leader Janice
Velocity matching
Collision avoidance
Flock centuring
What if anything do the above words have to do with our Mountain Laurel BeeArtful group?
I was asked to lead this group for 2024 and an image of the Tour de France came to mind.
How do all those cyclists manage to stay together, help each other as teams and make it to the finish line without crashes.
They somehow match each other’s velocity, avoid collisions and keep themselves centered as a group.
While doing all the above, they have Lead Outs who move to the front of the pack, expend maximum energy, then shift back to let someone else be the Lead Out.
Here is the list of our 2024 Leaders:
- Gini and Bev are guiding the Opportunity Quilt for 2024
- Melinda, Carol and Vickie are planners for the April and November Quilt Retreats
Workshops for 2024:
- Laura will do a Spoonflower demo in January
- Geri is leading our critique session in March
- Carol will demo bowl making in May and
- Melinda will lead an International workshop (TBD).
We have a wonder-filled plan for next year (see below) and it will take all of us to make it to the ‘finish line.’
Hope to see you in December. Until then...
Keep Pedaling
Janice
PS: In peloton cycling, according to my brother-in-law John, my designation would be Tour Leader, who (hopefully) the other team members support.

2025 Opportunity Quilt Choices
The group decided at the retreat that we would vote at the December meeting on five possible choices. Additional ideas can be found on the group Pinterest board (https://pin.it/2NNCxeS). Prior to the December meeting, Melinda will send each of you a Google form for voting on the two additional choices from the Pinterest board so we come to the December meeting with our five choices ready for voting.
2024 BeeArtful Challenge
At the retreat we decided to make one of these cute pot quilts as a challenge. Three BeeArtful members have already made one with one more in the works. We need to discuss dates, etc at the December meeting.
