EJMS Families,
We had a great week at school with On Demand Writing practice for 8th grade, another 5th grade visit from Red Oak Elementary, Beetlejuice performance during school, many athletic events, and the Sources of Strength Color Run. We have a busy five weeks of school remaining!
Repeat from last week - Fees from Chromebook Damages
According to the Chromebook contract that was signed at the beginning of the school year: Failure to pay fees may mean students cannot participate in school-sponsored events.
Please note: all school fees, including Chromebook damage replacement costs, must be paid in full in order for students to be eligible to attend extracurricular activities which includes field trips and dances.
Please make sure you login to IC parent portal and pay any outstanding fees on your child’s account. You can also bring money to the office to be applied to the account balance. Additionally, students will not receive a school loaner device unless you have arranged a payment plan or participation in the School Community Service Program.
KSA (Kentucky Summative Assessment) Testing
There are no excused absences for EHO days for East Middle students during the testing dates below. Please make sure your child is at school on time, well rested, and ready to test each day and try to avoid scheduling any appointments during the following testing dates:
6th grade - May 12th (Reading) and 13th (Math)
7th grade - May 6th (Reading) ,7th (Math), 8th (Science)
8th grade - May 6th (Reading), 7th (Math), 8th (SS),12th (Editing and Mechanics),13th (On Demand Writing)
As part of testing we will have a Good Faith Effort rubric (see below).
It's Book Fair time! And we're turning up the volume on this year's Fair with more books and more choices than ever! The purchase of every book helps promote the joy of reading and supports our students by helping fund our school library! Students can stop in the EJMS library from 4/22-4/29 or families can swing by during EJMS's Spring Showcase on the evening of the 22nd!
