ππ» Bravery Bears: Big Hearts, Bigger Impact! π»π
The Bravery Bears FCCLA project started with something powerful β care. Our amazing students saw how STAAR testing can feel overwhelming, especially for our brave 3rd graders experiencing it for the very first time.
Thatβs when sophomores Braelyn Hendley and Olivia LaPreze stepped up with a heartwarming idea: give every 3rd grader in La Vernia their very own Bravery Bear β a symbol of strength, confidence, and courage.
Each bear comes dressed in a special t-shirt featuring a handwritten message from a high school student, making every single one unique and full of encouragement.
With the incredible support of the La Vernia Education Foundation, this vision became a reality β showing what happens when a community comes together for its students.
Bravery Bears reminds us all that even the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference. Our Bears take care of each other β and this is what #BearPride is all about!
π LVHS Boys and Girls Golf are Headed to State! β³

Weβre excited to share that yesterday, La Vernia High School officially PASSED the Texas School Safety Intruder Audit β and did so with excellence!
This accomplishment highlights our continued dedication to keeping our Big Bears safe, secure, and ready to succeed every day. From staff training to campus protocols, safety remains a top priority at LVHS.

We Need Your Help!
The number of students being signed out during class seems to be on an upswing lately. We know doctor/dentist appointment times are often beyond our control; however, the number of sign-outs for lunch about halfway through class prior to lunch is concerning and has come to the attention of campus administration. Please be mindful that LVHS does not have open-campus lunch, and that students' lunches can be dropped off in the office if they do not bring them themselves or if there are special dietary needs. C lunch is 1:03-1:33 on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 1:16-1:26 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
In addition, many students are not returning back to class after lunch on time. This could result in the student being marked tardy or receiving an unexcused absence - which could lead to truancy or losing credit for his/her class.
Please join us in supporting our students being in class everyday and on time.
Help us stock the LVHS Grab & Go Closet!
Weβre collecting donations of hair bands, tampons, travel size deodorant, stain remover wipes, Vaseline packets for dry lips, nail files, travel size toothpaste, and combs for students in need.

Thank you for supporting our Bears community!
Time Between Passing Periods Extended for 2026-2027 School Year
To support students in arriving to class on time during the ongoing construction period, the LVISD School Board has approved the campus request to extend passing periods by one minute. Beginning in August 2026, the campus schedule will include a five-minute passing period, resulting in a revised school day end time of 4:37 p.m. instead of 4:30 p.m.
This adjustment does not impact instructional minutes or employee contract time. Bus transportation will remain unaffected, as student loading times will continue to begin at 4:45 p.m. at the Junior High and approximately 5:00 p.m. at the High School.
We would like to express our appreciation to our Campus Leadership Team and to our students for voicing the need for this adjustment. While this change may not resolve every issue each day, it is a meaningful step toward improving transitions between classes.

We Are Still Missing Many Permission Slips!
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Legislative updates have required schools to gain consent prior to services/participation. We are missing a large amount of consent forms. Please check that you have completed the following items and returned/submitted them to LVHS:
* Student Code of Conduct and Acceptable Use Policy (printed copy was sent home)
* Consent for School Counseling (electronic submission)
* Parent Consent for School Related Health Services (printed copy was sent home)
* School club(s) permission to participate (sent home by club sponsor)
All of these forms are posted to this newsletter for your convenience. Please help us ensure your student can receive the services he/she needs.
Has Your Child Returned LVHS Acceptable Use Policy and Code of Conduct?
Copies of LVHS Code of Conduct and Technology Acceptable Use Policy were sent home the week of August 18th. Please send these sigend forms back to school as soon as possible.
Notice of Consent for School Counseling
The 89th Texas Legislature recently passed Senate Bill 12, which requires school districts to notify parents of staff services related to mental health and to give parent/guardians the opportunity to opt out before mental health-related services are provided to their child.
This form must be submitted for each student. Consent given through this form is effective during the current school year unless rescinded earlier.
You must complete this form for each student enrolled in La Vernia ISD.
School counseling services are more fully explained in board policy FFEA, and student mental health is covered in board policy FFEB. Information about threat assessments can be found in board policy FFB.
Have You Returned Consent for Health Services?
Notice of and Consent for School Health-Related Services
This form must be signed and returned to LVISD Health Services. Consent given through this form is effective during the current school year unless revoked earlier.
In accordance with new law as of Sept.1, 2025, the District must provide parents with written notice of each school-based health-related service offered at the campus their child attends. These routine services promote student safety, wellness, and readiness to learn. The services may be provided by qualified school staff, including nurses and athletic trainers. This consent does not take the place of an individualized health plan, 504 plan, or other legally required document.
A parent has the right to withhold consent for or decline any health-related service.
Printed copies of this form were sent home last week. For you convenience, the forms have been linked below.

La Vernia ISD is proud to announce that our Primary, Intermediate, Junior High and High School campuses have been awarded the Purple Star Campus Designation from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). This honor recognizes our districtβs commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families.
The Purple Star Campus Designation is an award given by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to Texas districts and charter schools that meet specific criteria for supporting military-connected families. Each fall, TEA awards the Purple Star to applicants who meet the following criteria:
Designate a campus-based military liaison who must:
Support military-connected students and their families.
Provide professional development opportunities for staff members on issues related to military-connected students.
Create and maintain an easily accessible webpage with information for military- connected students and their families.
Implement a campus transition program that includes:
Introductions to the school environment and processes.
A student leader or ambassador program, supported by a campus-based staff member.
Organizing and hosting newcomer social events, guided tours of the campus, and accompanying new students to lunch during their first week of school.
Offer at least one of the following initiatives:
A resolution showing support for military-connected students and families.
Participation in the Month of the Military Child or Military Family Month.
A partnership with a school liaison officer to provide opportunities for active-duty military members.
The Purple Star Campus Designation highlights the hard work of our dedicated educators, counselors, and staff in ensuring that military-connected students receive the support they need to thrive academically and socially. As we celebrate this achievement, we look forward to continuing our support of military families and enhancing the resources available to ensure their success.
