Greetings, Lake Students and Families!

We are still the land of opportunity! This month, we have so much to celebrate — the right to vote, STEM Night, and Thanksgiving. Our country is rich with history, honoring our past while preparing for an even brighter future. Education is a right we do not take for granted.

Teaching is truly a calling, and I want to take a moment to give a huge shoutout to our amazing teachers. The Lake staff is dedicated to ensuring that every student has the best learning experience possible. I have the privilege of visiting classrooms for observations and walkthroughs, and I absolutely love watching the learning in action!

As you talk with your child about their day at Lake, here are a few alternatives to the familiar question, “What did you learn today?”

  • “What was something challenging you worked on today, and how did you approach it?”

  • “Did you ask any questions today? What were they about?”

  • “What’s something new you discovered that surprised you?”

  • “Was there a moment today when you felt proud of your work? Can you tell me about it?”

  • “How did you work with your classmates today?”

  • “Did you learn about any new place today?”

These kinds of questions often lead to more meaningful conversations than “nothing.” I can assure you — our days are filled with learning, engagement, and growth!

As we continue this learning journey together, please continue to support your child by ensuring they get adequate sleep. Rest is a major factor in success both socially and academically. Below is a helpful chart with recommendations for how much sleep students should get each night.

Thank you for an amazing first quarter — and for all you do to support our Lake community!

Kindly yours,

Mrs. Fleck, Principal

NPPS Attendance

North Platte Public Schools believes in the importance of children being in school. Lake Elementary will be monitoring building, grade, classroom, and individual student's attendance. We are gifted with prizes for students who maintain less than Five or More Absences. We also recognize students with Perfect Attendance. This year we are monitoring our Monthly Absences by Grade, please make sure your students are coming to school.

If your child will not be in school, please call the office before 8:00am. If students are seen by a medical professional, please provide a note to the office. Students who miss more than 10 days are required to have an Attendance Meeting with Principal and Parents. As required by state statute, student who are chronically absent will have a referral sent to the County Attorney.

Attendance Goals

North Platte Public Schools works collaboratively with families to ensure that students are in school. Lake Elementary's September Attendance was 97.69%. We strive to be above 95% as a school. Way to Go WILDCATS!!!

Winter Coats/ Hats & Gloves

With winter coming please make sure you send a jacket/winter coat and a hat/gloves with your student(s) with them everyday. If the temp is above a feel like of 15 degrees we typically go outside for recess. Remember if it snows, students may bring their snow boots to play in the snow. Students without snow boots will not be allowed to go into the snow. Please make sure to label your student's items so if they get put in the lost and found we can find its owner!
