Dear QCVA Families,

I hope you have had a great start to the second quarter. The beginning of this quarter is a great time to refocus, set new goals, and make steady progress in each class.

For our seniors, this is an especially important time. Every completed assignment and passed course brings you one step closer to graduation. Please stay organized, communicate regularly with your teachers, and take advantage of the support available to help you meet your goals. Your dedication and effort now will make a lasting impact as you prepare for the next chapter after QCVA.

Thank you to our families for your continued support and encouragement. Let’s make this quarter a successful one for all our students!

Warm regards,
Kevin Aikins
Principal, Queen Creek Virtual Academy

Our School Counselor is an excellent resource for strategies and support to help your student succeed! Ms. Rowan-Millan is available for confidential, 15-minute virtual check-ins to help students with everything from learning strategies and staying on pace with schoolwork to navigating personal struggles. Please remember that for specific academic questions like quiz retakes, tutoring, or assignment details, the first point of contact should always be the student's teacher/facilitator. Our counselor's goal is to focus on the support and strategies needed for overall well-being and academic habits, not individual grades or assignments. While slots are set for 15 minutes, please feel free to request more time if you feel your student needs a longer sessionβ€”we encourage you to take advantage of this valuable resource. What mythical creature would make the best pet? What mythical creature would make the best pet?

πŸ‰ Last week’s poll results are in, and the Dragon soared to the top spot with a fiery 40% of the vote! The enchanting Fairy came in second at 29%, just barely edging out the graceful Unicorn at 28%, while the chilly Yeti trailed far behind at 3%. Students clearly believe a mythical pet should be an unforgettable companion! After all, a pet dragon means you would never need to rake leaves again, could get a free ride to school every morning, and would be the ultimate warm friend, perfect for cuddling up with on a cold night or helping you make new, awesome friends!

Kinder to Grade 6: Students may request retakes for Assess-Its, Summary/Reflection, or Quizzes from their facilitator through the SchoolsPLP chat. Students are encouraged to attend tutoring when needed.

Grades 7 to 12: Quizzes and Unit Tests are used throughout the Edgenuity curriculum to assess student learning. Students must score 70% or higher on the assessments to progress in the course. The first and second attempts of a quiz or Unit Test can be taken without the assistance of a facilitator. If a student does not meet the 70% threshold within the first two attempts, they will be required to submit a copy of their lesson notes to their facilitator before receiving a third attempt. Students will need to attend tutoring with their subject area facilitator before receiving a fourth attempt on an assessment.
