Dear Families and Students,

This week, Grade 3 wrapped up their MCAS testing, and next week Grade 4 will begin their Math MCAS on Monday and Tuesday. We are so proud of all of our students for their hard work and perseverance throughout testing season!

Thank you to everyone who took the time to recognize our staff during Staff Appreciation Week. Our staff truly felt appreciated, and your kind words and support meant so much to them.

Please be sure to check the important dates section, as end-of-year field trips will begin taking place next week. We also look forward to celebrating our students who are heading to the Special Olympics on Friday!

Happy Mother’s Day to every kind of mom and mother figure out there! 💚💛

As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Katelyn Lima, Principal (klima@drregional.org)

Mr. Kenneth Girouard, Assistant Principal (kgirouard@drregional.org)

We are excited to share that beloved children’s author and illustrator Peter H. Reynolds will be visiting our district on Friday, May 29th!

As part of the launch of our summer reading initiative, Peter Reynolds will visit both elementary schools to inspire students through storytelling, creativity, and the joy of reading. His books, including The Dot, Ish, and Say Something!, encourage children to use their voices, take creative risks, and believe in themselves.

Students will hear about Peter Reynolds’ writing and illustrating process while celebrating the excitement of summer reading. We are thrilled to offer this special experience and hope it inspires a love of reading that continues all summer long. Additional information about our summer reading initiative will be shared soon.

Feinstein Golden Ticket Winner Feinstein Golden Ticket Winner

Congratulations to Julien for having the winning ticket this week! 🎉

Julien will receive a Feinstein sweatshirt, and the $500 donation he selected will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, supporting their incredible work with children and families.

Because Julien is our Golden Ticket Winner, Dighton Elementary School will also receive $2,000. We are incredibly proud and excited for Julien and grateful for the positive impact this brings to our school community. These funds will be used to support student activities and help meet the needs of our students, enhancing opportunities and experiences for all.

A special thank you to Feinstein Foundation for this amazing opportunity for schools. Your generosity continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.

Cooking in Room 12

Our TLC Cooking Group with Ms. Jill and Ms. Cara is getting creative in the kitchen!

This week, students made adorable owl rice cakes — a fun, hands-on activity that builds communication, fine motor skills, and independence while having a “hoot” of a time!

We love learning that’s both tasty and terrific!
