Principal's Message
Ride Families,
What a wonderful week at Ride! Thank you to all of our parents who were able to join us for Parent Information Night on Wednesday. It was so great having you on campus and giving you the opportunity to learn more about your child’s classroom, daily routines, and all of the exciting learning ahead. We truly value the partnership we have with our Ride families!
We have also completed our first week of MAP testing. Beginning-of-year MAP data is incredibly important because it gives our teachers a clear picture of where each student is starting academically. It helps us identify individual strengths, areas for growth, and the specific skills students are ready to learn next. Our teachers use this information alongside classroom observations and other assessments to plan instruction, create small groups, and determine which students may benefit from additional intervention or enrichment.
Most importantly, MAP is not about a single score. It is about growth. This beginning-of-year data gives us a starting point that allows us to set meaningful goals for each student and celebrate the progress they make throughout the year. We will continue testing next week and hope to begin our fall parent conferences starting in September, where we can partner with you to discuss your child’s progress, goals, and next steps.
We are also SO excited that our new library furniture has arrived! It has been wonderful to see our students already enjoying the new comfy spaces, curling up with books, and reading alongside one another. Creating spaces where our students want to read, learn, and spend time together is so important, and our library has truly become a special place at Ride.
A big thank you to Mrs. Deckert for all of her hard work and heart in transforming our library into such a welcoming space for our Challengers. And an extra HUGE thank you to Amanda Ellis for painting our absolutely beautiful space mural! It is the perfect addition to our Ride theme and has helped make our library a place that inspires our students to read, explore, and dream big!
We also have several exciting events coming up!
Grandparents Lunch – September 14 & 15
Please spread the word to your child’s grandparents! We love opening our doors and welcoming grandparents to Ride. This is such a special opportunity for them to enjoy lunch with their grandchild and get a glimpse of our fabulous school. Be sure to check out the flyer below for additional information.
Ride’s Galaxy of Learning Fall Fundraiser
We are getting ready to launch our fall fundraiser, Ride’s Galaxy of Learning! Our PTO and teachers are already working hard to make this an incredible day of learning and fun for our students. More information will be coming home in the next few weeks.
If you would like to help us get ready, please check out our Galaxy of Learning Wish List below. Every donation helps us create an amazing experience for our Challengers!
We also need volunteers for our Galaxy of Learning Activity Day on October 8. Students will travel through a variety of engaging activities as they learn, explore, and celebrate together. If you are available to help run an activity, we would LOVE to have you join us! The volunteer sign-up link is below.
Labor Day Holiday – September 7th
As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday, September 7 in observance of Labor Day.
Thank you for everything you do to support your child and our school. Your partnership makes such a difference, and we are so grateful to have you as part of our Ride family. We hope you have a wonderful, relaxing weekend!
Have a wonderful weekend!
So blessed to be your principal,
Laura Collins

Watch D.O.G.S. Pizza Party
Fathers and Father-figures,
On September 15, from 5:30-6:30pm, we will have our 3rd annual Watch D.O.G.S. Kick-Off Informational Meeting and Pizza Party. Starting at 5:30 pm, we will have a presentation about our Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) Program in the gym. You may enter the school from the front doors or back gym doors.
Watch D.O.G.S. is an innovative program being used by schools across America. It helps them to be positively impacted by the committed involvement of fathers and father figures in their student's life. We aim to have you spend a day, half day, or a few hours this year at Ride in a positive male role model and provide an extra set of eyes and ears.
Dads, grandads, uncles, step-dads, and adult brothers... this is your chance to serve the students and staff at Ride Elementary.
To participate, click the link below to RSVP or scan the picture in the informational flyer.
Thank you,
Bree Jones

Birthday Treats
To help us keep everyone safe and ensure celebrations run smoothly, please remember that any birthday treats brought to school must follow our treat guidelines. Treats should be commercially prepared, nut-free, and clearly labeled with ingredients.
**Please note that we can not accept birthday treats from Shipley’s Donuts, as their corporate office has informed us that their products contain nuts.**
Treats that do not meet these guidelines will not be permitted in the classroom. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us celebrate safely!

Breakfast & Lunch
Parents are encouraged to prepay for their child’s meals through myschoolbucks.com. Please allow up to 48 hours for payments to be applied to your child’s account.
Breakfast is served daily from 7:30–7:55 a.m. Breakfast costs $2.00, and a regular student lunch is $3.20. À la carte items are also available for purchase at varying prices.
For menus, nutrition information, and additional details, please visit the CISD Child Nutrition website.
If sending cash or a check to school, please place it in a sealed envelope labeled with your child’s name, ID number, and grade level to ensure the payment is applied correctly. Checks should be made payable to CISD Child Nutrition and include the parent’s driver’s license number and date of birth. Free and Reduced-Price Meals
Families interested in applying for free or reduced-price meals may complete an application through myschoolapps.com. Students who do not qualify for the free or reduced-price meal program will need funds in their account or payment at the time of purchase for breakfast and lunch.
Lunch Visitors
We have found that the first few weeks of school are an important time for students to build independence, learn routines, and become comfortable in their new environment. To support this transition, we kindly ask that parents and guardians wait until August 24 before joining their child for lunch.
Due to limited seating in our cafeteria, all lunch visitors will be required to sign up in advance. We will share additional information, including the lunch visitor sign-up process, in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we help our Challengers get off to a great start this school year!
School Hours
School hours are 7:55 a.m. - 3:10 p.m. Students must be in their classroom before the 7:55 a.m. bell rings, or they will be considered tardy. Please note that 7:30 a.m. is the earliest time that your child may be dropped off. We do not have staff available to supervise students until that time.
Tardy Policy - A student is tardy if not in the classroom at 7:55 a.m. If your child is tardy, parents must sign him/her in at the front office. When a student is tardy, an e-mail will be sent to the student’s guardian for notification.
Parent Portal
Conroe ISD offers a Parent Portal that gives parents and guardians easy access to important information about their child. All parents/guardians will need to create an account to get started. Please use the email address currently listed in your child’s school records. After entering your email, you’ll be prompted to create a password.
For step-by-step instructions, click Parent Portal Directions or go to Conroe ISD Webpage then "Parents/Students" to access the link
ELECTRONIC DEVICE POLICY
Students may not use personal communication and electronic devices during the school day in accordance with Texas House Bill 1481.
This includes (but is not limited to) phones, smartwatches, tablets, and wired/wireless headphones such as AirPods.
