Promoting Achievement and Kindness

Last Friday EMS Vice-Principal, Mr. Kelley, hosted an all-school assembly. We played a competitive game, we celebrated students for their actions, and we frontloaded students about the last three weeks of school and our academic and behavioral goals.

Student-Identified Respect Campaign

We elicit student voice to help guide our actions. The Student Council has worked to identify strategic actions we will begin to implement before the end of the school year. The two top-voted strategic actions are: #1: Student-led Respect Forms and #2: Teaching Respect and Kindness, schoolwide.

Event Information

Lockdown Drill: Wednesday 6/1/22

Each month, in addition to a fire drill, EMS also practices either a "Lockdown" or "lockout" situation. We practice these procedures so we are more prepared for any real-life scenario.

The lockdown exercise this Wednesday will be an opportunity for our staff and students to follow our procedures, rules, and expectations if there is a threat inside the building. Staff will practice locking doors and following adult instructions. The drill start and end with communication on the intercom.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our office team.

Spring Math and Reading iReady Diagnostic Data Coming Soon

Last week, the majority of students completed their Spring iReady Diagnostic measures. We - students, staff, and families - aspire to use these measures to be accountable for learning and to make adjustments to serve our students more effectively while at school.

Student measures will determine three weeks of placement for the upcoming school year as well as initial placement in Math and Reading classes for the upcoming school year (prior to the Fall Diagnostic of 22-23).

We will be sending individual student data in the coming weeks.

Upward Growth Reading

Students' reading skills, overall, improved. EMS is supporting students who are either far-below grade-level or at-or-above grade level. We must improve students who are slightly behind.

Upward Growth Math

75% of all students exhibited growth from the Fall baseline diagnostic. This means our systems have ensured at least 75% of our students demonstrated consistent growth in Math skills.
