Dear Families,

I have some hard news to share with you. Mrs. Barbour, one of our interventionists, was recently diagnosed with cancer. Today Mrs. Olson, our school counselor, met with each classroom to share the news with students. Mrs. Barbour is an integral part of our school community who supports students in every grade so we thought it was important to communicate with all students and families. She is continuing to work through her treatment. Please keep Mrs. Barbour in your thoughts.

Thank you to Ms. Slavik, mother of Charlene, Mr. Adamowicz, father of Elaina, and Mr. Wagner, father of Alena who volunteered as our Watch D.O.G.S. this week. They spent their time in classrooms, PE, music class, eating lunch with their student and recess. We appreciate them coming in and volunteering.

It's time to schedule your fall Parent-Teacher Conferences! The sign-up window will open on Monday, September 28th and will close on Wednesday, October 7th.

On behalf of the PTO, we are asking for parents to donate paper products, desserts, snacks, pop and water for parent teacher conferences. The conferences will be held on Monday, October 12th and Tuesday, October 13th. Donations can be dropped off anytime to the school office and no later than 3:00 pm on Friday, October 9th.

Desserts for Monday and Tuesday can be dropped off on the day you have signed up for.

During the month of October, our classroom counseling lessons in grades K-5 will focus on skills of resiliency, coping skills and how to get help for oneself and/or a friend. These lessons are intended to educate students on feelings of stress, worry, sadness, how to cope with such feelings, and how to ask for help if needed. Students will identify coping strategies and trusted adults at school and outside of school to whom they can go for help. Please talk with your child about these feelings, and reinforce appropriate coping strategies such as talking with a trusted adult, exercising, or doing an activity they enjoy.
