The 2026 National Women’s History Month theme is “Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future,” which focuses on the important role that women have played in creating environmental, economic, and social sustainability.
All month long our community of educators, students, and families are encouraged to recognize and celebrate the leadership of women, their accomplishments, and their lasting impact on our schools and community! Click here to learn more.
Beyond the Conejo, millions of children across the country will celebrate Read Across America Week, an annual event sponsored by the National Education Association and many of the country’s leading literacy and youth groups. In 2026, the National Education Association continues its theme, “Celebrating a Nation of Diverse Readers,” highlighting the strength found in diversity, inclusion, and a shared love of reading.
CVUSD enthusiastically supports Read Across America and the promotion of reading amongst the next generation, as it is essential for students’ development, academic success, and their ability to compete in an evolving global economy. Click here to read more.

MIND MATTERS: Student & Family Wellness Fair, a Free Event on Thursday at NPHS
MIND MATTERS: On Thursday, March 5th from 5:30pm to 7pm (drop in anytime) a Student & Family Wellness Fair will take place in the NPHS Cafeteria and Quad. This will be an evening centered on connection, care, and yes… a few wagging tails. This is not a lecture or presentation, but is a FREE interactive, come-and-go event funded by the National PTA Healthy Minds grant (and with the support of our amazing NPHS Wellness Center and staff) where students and families can explore wellness resources and experiences at their own pace in a welcoming, low-pressure environment.
The goal of the event is to help students and caregivers easily discover the many wellness supports available both on campus and in our community. It will feature resource tables, interactive wellness experiences, certified therapy dogs, and free food/refreshments. This event is open to the public and all ages.

Elementary Students Explore Future Career Pathways with Visits to WHS & NPHS
It's never too soon to start thinking about and planning for the future career of your dreams! That was the mindset behind recent, first of its kind field trips for both Westlake Elementary and Walnut Elementary students to their local CVUSD high school - Westlake High School and Newbury Park High School, respectively. Through their visits elementary students had the opportunity to explore CTE Career Pathways Programs available to high school students. Current Warriors and Panthers led hands-on activities and demonstrations related to the Pathways they're enrolled in, while showcasing and sharing the career-ready skills they've acquired through their coursework.
Westlake Elementary's visit included 4th and 5th grade students and was made possible thanks to a K12 Strong Workforce Grant from California Community Colleges. Students explored Westlake High's Education, Digital Media, Theater Tech, and Allied Health Careers Pathways.
Meanwhile, due to the proximity of their campuses, 3rd and 5th grade students from Walnut Elementary walked to Newbury Park High for a morning of exploring the school's Video & Broadcasting, Emergency Responder, Woodworking & Cabinetry, Robotics, and Culinary Arts Career Pathways Programs.
Students built connections with their high school leaders, and left in awe, fully inspired for when they will get to be Warriors and Panthers! The cross-collaboration between our school sites, is just one of the things that makes the CVUSD the exceptional place it is for students to learn and grow.
It was a phenomenal experience for all involved - giving elementary students a glimpse into the future learning experiences that await them in their CVUSD journey ahead! Click here to learn more about all of the CTE Career Pathways Programs available in the CVUSD.
Ladera STARS Academy Honors Black History Month with Living Museum
On Friday, students at Ladera STARS Academy celebrated Black History Month through a special Living Museum event. Students dressed as influential historical figures and brought history to life through engaging presentations and handmade displays. Each student proudly shared the projects they had created, recognizing and paying tribute to the lasting contributions and achievements of their chosen figures. The event provided a meaningful opportunity for students to honor Black history while educating their peers and families.
