26/27 School Calendar

Late Start Fridays Late Start Fridays

THERE WILL BE NO late start Friday is August 7...THE THIRD DAY OF SCHOOL. School starts 45 min later every Friday during the rest of the school year (except the last day of school). Students may still arrive via parent drop off at 8:30 am, but all bus times will be delayed 45 min. On late start Fridays, the schedule is as follows:

8:30 am- Students can arrive via parent drop off

9:15 am Arrival Bell

WHY DO WE HAVE LATE START FRIDAYS?

NPUSC values professional development and our Professional Learning Community culture. During late start Fridays, teachers meet to learn and grow together. At Prairie View, the teachers spend time answering and planning for the following questions together in their teams:

1. What do we want students to learn (essential standards)?

2. How do we know they've learned it (common assessment development, scoring and analyzing)?

3. What do we do if they didn't learn it (remediation planning for RtI blocks)?

4. What do we do if they did learn it (enrichment planning for RtI blocks)?

In addition, we spend time learning together about new and innovative methods to become the best teaching staff we can. Thank you for your continued support to allow teachers to grow and learn to be the best they can be for our students!

Visitors and Volunteers Visitors and Volunteers

We love having you take opportunities to be involved within the school.

Background checks must be approved 7 days in advance of the time you'd like to come into school. Background checks must be filled out EACH year, so do them now so you are ready to come see us when something pops up.

Volunteer Applications are DIGITAL!

Please follow the link below to complete a volunteer background check for the 2026/2027 school year. This needs to be completed by any adult (18+) who would like to attend classroom events, special school events, field trips, or help with a field day. Please only complete one per ADULT, not per student. We encourage anyone to fill one out, even if they end up not attending any event. You will only be contacted if you need to complete fingerprinting or are denied.

If you have any problems/questions, don't hesitate to contact Richelle Kmak at 574-654-0266 or richellekmak@npusc.k12.in.us

**Must fill out a new one EVERY school year**

Morning Drop-Off and Afternoon Pick-Up Morning Drop-Off and Afternoon Pick-Up

Morning Drop-Off - On the first day of school, parents may choose to park in the lot and walk their students up to the front doors. Staff members will escort the students inside. After the first day, we ask that all adults enter into the drop-off line and remain in their vehicles. Please have students remain in the car until you have pulled in front of the school where students can exit out of the passenger side doors into the designated area safely. Students may not exit the car from the road and walk through the parking lot. Staff members will be available in the morning to assist with students entering the building. We anticipate approximately 2-3 cars will be able to unload at one time before moving on. Please do not drive around cars that are ahead of you in line.

Afternoon Pick-Up - For afternoon pick-up, again, please remain in your car in the pick-up line. Similar to the drop-off, parents may choose to pick up their students from in front of the building on the first day. If you are able, display your student's name in the windshield of the car. A staff member will take your student's name as you enter the circle drive. This will allow us to prepare your student for dismissal. Again, we anticipate being able to load 2-3 students at a time in front of the building.

Attendance Matters! Attendance Matters!

As we kick off a brand-new school year, we are so excited to welcome your children back into our hallways! One of the greatest gifts we can give our students is a consistent, supportive routine—and that starts with regular school attendance.

Research shows that when students maintain Model Attendance (missing 7 days or less during the entire school year, or maintaining a 96% attendance rate), they build stronger friendships, feel more connected to their classroom community, and set a fantastic foundation for academic confidence.

We know that life happens—germs wander through classrooms, family emergencies arise, and kids genuinely get sick. We always want your child resting at home when they aren't feeling well! Our goal with Model Attendance isn't perfection; it’s about working together to minimize missed days whenever possible so your child gets the most out of their school experience.

Thank you for your partnership, your encouragement, and for getting your kiddos to school ready to learn and grow. Let’s make this our best year yet—one day at a time!
