Spring Break

Please enjoy your time off to relax and reset! We will see the students back Monday, April 3rd.

Important info on morning drop off procedures

Good afternoon Albright parents. We have become too flexible with parents pulling through on Myrtle Ave. to drop their children off in the morning. This has created three lanes of traffic and more than one car accident this week. I have talked with the Villa Park Police, and for the safety of our students, we will strictly enforce our drop-off procedure once again. Please do not turn onto Myrtle Ave. for any reason during drop-off and pick-up. Here are the procedures if you need a review: https://5il.co/1r6ca
We apologize for any inconvenience they may cause.

Sincerely,
Ms. Aulisa

IAR Testing

Dear Parents and/or Guardians: We will be administering the state-required IAR Test (Illinois Assessment of Readiness) to all students, 5th through 8th grade starting Tuesday, April 4th. If a student attends school daily during the testing window, they will be done testing on Thursday, April 13th. Students will be taking one test per day, in the morning. The tests have different times, but on average take an hour to an hour and a half to complete. There are three Math tests and two English Language Arts tests. We will alternate the content area tests each day, to avoid testing fatigue. Please refer to the schedule below, but understand that testing is subject to change. If a student is ill on a day of testing, we have a few makeup options and will test them when they get back. Please do not send your child to school if they are not feeling well. Below are some suggestions to support your child to do his/her best on the IAR Test.

● Attend school on all days of testing, unless the child is ill.

● Arrive to school on time each morning, as we are testing first thing on some days.

● Get a good night’s sleep each night before testing.

● Eat a complete breakfast the mornings of testing at home or at school.

● Remind him/her to wear glasses if they have them.

● Help get them excited to show off what they know and put forth a solid effort.

● Ease any anxieties, as this is just a test and we are confident in their abilities.

● Write them a note of encouragement each morning.

As a school, we promote a fun and positive testing environment. This is the time for our students to show off everything they have been learning all year long.

Sincerely,

Gerrie Aulisa, Principal

Heidi Hummel, Assistant Principal

Erin's Law Presentation

Erin’s Law, House Bill 6193 was signed by Governor Pat Quinn on January 24, 2013. This law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness and prevention curriculum for grades pre-K through 12. It is recommended that four communications a year on Erin’s Law be made available to all students, often through social-emotional instruction and/or contact with the school social worker.

Victor Pacini, a survivor of sexual abuse, author, and motivational speaker, will be assisting our schools in implementing this mandate. Mr. Pacini’s program is developmentally appropriate, interactive, and aligned with learning standards. The focus of his presentation is to teach children basic skills to keep them safe from dangerous or abusive situations. The concepts that will be discussed are:

  • Distinguishing safe from unsafe touches

  • Safety rules at home and school

  • Saying “NO”

  • Safe/Unsafe Secrets

  • It’s not the child’s fault if someone touches him or her

  • Telling a trusted adult

Mr. Pacini and his colleague, Deanna Hynes, will be presenting at our schools on Monday, April 10. Each grade level will participate in an assembly for approximately 30 minutes. The content can be previewed here: https://www.victorpacini.com/peace-of-mind-2/

Requests to Opt-Out: If you prefer that your child opt-out of this prevention education session, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.

RevTrak Payment Option

NO MORE E-PAY! We have rolled out a new way to pay for lunches, school fees and activity fees for students. You can sign up here https://saltcreek48.revtrak.net/. Or you can go to your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments.
