Field Day Info...

Field Day is almost here! We've had an amazing response of parent volunteers and donations of supplies. We are so grateful and blessed to have such fantastic support for this event! By the middle of next week, please check your child's backpack for a bright yellow piece of paper with all of the important details of what your child needs to wear and bring with them on Field Day. We have been going over this information with your child in PE class for several days. The MOST IMPORTANT thing your child needs to be wearing on Field Day is TENNIS SHOES! We play on various surfaces and tennis shoes are the safest for all students.

If you are a parent who signed up to volunteer to run a station on Field Day, check your child's backpack on Wednesday. You'll be looking for a bright pink sheet of paper that will be part of a packet letting you know which station you will be working at, how the station will operate, and other important details that you'll want to know. Volunteers: PLEASE bring your packet with you on Field Day.

Thanks again for all of your help. We are looking forward to another great Field Day at Mountain View!

May Week 4 : Earth’s Resources - Wind Power!

Observation: When the wind blows, things that are outside move!

Question: Why do some things move in the wind, while others don’t? Why do we have to put some things away when we know a storm is coming?

Create-Your-Own-Hypothesis!

IF _________ THEN _________ .

Materials:

  • A variety of wind-making options: hair dryer, paper fan, straw (to blow through)

  • A variety of objects (different weights, sizes, shapes, etc.)

Results:

  • Take a picture and submit it to your teacher on SeeSaw!

Conclusion:

  • Why do you think some things moved with the hair dryer but not when you blew through the straw?

  • Is the wind doing work (the use of force to move an object)? How could we use the wind to help us do more work?

Medicine Pick Up

As the end of the school year approaches, we ask that you prepare to come and pick up any medication your child has kept here during the school year. School policy states that medication must be brought and picked up by parents. Any over the counter medications left at the school after June 4 will be discarded. Please contact our school nurse at 540-438-1965 if you have any questions.

Lost and Found

What a lot of stuff we have that doesn’t belong to us! If you are at school for any reason (or simply want to pop in), PLEASE look through our lost and found and take any items that belong to your child(ren). On June 6, all leftover lost items will be donated to Goodwill!
