Congratulations, Robbie Hanscom (26')!
Robbie Hanscom ('26) received the Harold Charlton Memorial Award from the Western Maine Board of Approved Soccer Officials. The official who presented the award gave the example of Robbie rushing up to defend his teammate, but doing so in a professional way. In a sport that often has a good deal of conflict between players and officials, it's rare to have a student recognized for their leadership on the field by the officials themselves, and it says a lot about the type of leader Robbie has become.
This is an extremely prestigious honor that recognizes exceptional leadership, ability, and sportsmanship on the soccer field. The award is given to only three boys’ soccer players in the entire state—across all classes (A, B, C, D, and 8-man).
Recipients are chosen through votes cast by soccer officials across Western Maine throughout the season. A representative then visits each selected student-athlete’s school to present the award. During last night’s presentation, the official noted that they see over 1,000 boys’ soccer players each season, making Robbie’s selection as one of the top three especially impressive.
Coach Julie Johnson said, "I am so grateful to have been able to see this side of Robbie and so many of our kids in other contexts outside of their school day. Robbie had an incredible fall — not just as a player, but as a leader and teammate. He’s truly a special kid who represents our program in the best possible way."
Congratulations, Robbie! We are so incredibly proud of you!
This week, York High School is proud to honor Isabella Parrotta as our Student of the Week. A remarkable scholar-athlete and a true schoolwide leader, she exemplifies dedication and compassion.
As captain of the volleyball team, Bella has had an extraordinary 2025 season, guiding the team to the State Championship last week and achieving a monumental milestone: her 1000th career assist. Teammates frequently praise Bella, describing her love and passion for volleyball as genuinely contagious and inspiring.
Bella’s commitment extends far beyond athletics. She is a dedicated member of the Interact Club, engaging in both local and out-of-state community service projects, like volunteering at the Greater Boston Food Bank. She also maintains high academic standards, as recognized by her membership in the National Honor Society.
Looking ahead, Bella hopes to continue playing volleyball at the college level while pursuing her passion for helping others by studying nursing. This semester, she is exploring an Extended Learning Opportunity at Portsmouth Regional Hospital on the nursing floor.
Congratulations, Bella, on this well-deserved recognition! We can't wait to see all that you accomplish in the future.

College Rep Visits
College rep visits are starting up, and they'll be held in person or virtually this year. These visits are a great chance to talk with college representatives about their campuses and what they offer. Sometimes, the reps you meet with are the same admission counselors who will be reviewing your application!
There are many colleges and universities visiting, so be sure to check out all the available slots in Naviance. For virtual visits, it's important to be in a quiet space so you can have a clear conversation.
Juniors and seniors can sign up and reserve their spot through Naviance by clicking on the "What's new" window on your Naviance home page. If you need a quiet place to participate, please let Student Services know ahead of time. If you have any questions, please reach out to us in Student Services.
