Good evening, ABS Families,
Happy fourth day of school!
As we come upon the Feast Day of Mother Theresa, we truly believe that 'some people come into our lives as blessings'. We at ABS are blessed to have your family as part of our school community and are excited to start the 2026-2027 school year off to a great start. Thank you for entrusting your child to our care.
Back to School Night: Next Thursday, 9/10, will be our Back to School Night event for families. This is an opportunity to hear about classroom procedures and expectations from your child's teacher team. The event will take place at 5:00 pm and is expected to conclude by 6:00 pm. Teacher teams will present twice, allowing individuals with multiple children to attend multiple sessions. Slideshows will be shared via Dojo after the event for you to view if you are unable to attend. You may enter the school only through the gym doors in the parking lot.
*Please note that this event is not the event to discuss individual student needs; please utilize Class Dojo or email to discuss the individual needs of your child with the teacher(s). Parent-teacher conferences will be in October, and sign-ups will go out at a later date.
Bobcat Faith & Adventure Aftercare: Our aftercare is up and running. If you are interested in registering your child. please email us at bfa.aftercare@abbschool.com.
Drop-Off: Thank you for following our drop-off protocol. We are off to a smooth start!
Reminder: students may NOT cross Highland Avenue in the middle of the road. They MUST walk to the crosswalk, where our crossing guards will help to escort them safely across the street. Highland Avenue is a busy road. Also, please do not stop in the middle of Highland Avenue.
Pick-Up: Thank you for your patience as we get to know the faces and cars of new families and the names of all of our new students. Once we know these better, the pick-up line will be much faster.
Family Income Survey: Every year, our school has an opportunity to participate in federal and state programs that benefit our students with a variety of materials and services. Some examples of available opportunities are:
The Maryland Textbook & Technology Funding Program
The Nonpublic Aging School Program
Title I, Title II, Title III, Title IV services under the Every Child Succeeds Act.
To determine the funding available for these programs, we need an accurate record of family income information. To obtain this information, we are asking each family to complete our 2026 - 2027 Income Survey. Please click the link to complete it if you haven't already. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc-Nxlu7LUpBdScHzhfK9AiJ6Ekf9dAamzy--hk1Rq57FjjhQ/viewform

Archbishop Borders is exploring opportunities to offer competitive sports for our students!
We are currently gathering interest in basketball, volleyball, futsal, and pickleball to see which sports our students would be most excited to participate in.
If your child would be interested in playing competitively, please take a few minutes to complete the survey below. Your responses will help us determine which teams and programs we can offer this school year.
Thank you for helping us create more opportunities for our students to play, compete, build confidence, and be part of a team!
Lantern Parade: Join Us for the Baltimore Great Halloween Lantern Día de Los Muertos Parade!
Archbishop Borders is marching as a school in this year's Great Halloween Lantern Parade & Día de Los Muertos Parade on Saturday, October 24th in Patterson Park — line-up starts at 6:30 pm. Our school's float theme: "Bobcats Light the Way"! Open to any student, PreK through 8th grade. Participation is optional!
HOW TO HELP — WE NEED MILK JUGS!
Please send your kids to school with empty, rinsed gallon milk jugs (opaque) through the end of September. We'll use them in Arts & Crafts Club (and possibly art class) to craft glowing lanterns for the parade.
More details on lineup and float plans to come.

Attendance: Attending school each day, for the entire school day, has been shown to have long-term benefits for children. At Archbishop Borders School, we expect students to be present each day for the full day. This means that students should be dropped off before 8:00 am and remain through the day until dismissal. If you know in advance that your child will be late or needs to leave early, please notify the office and your child's teacher. We want to avoid interrupting student learning due to tardiness and early dismissals; we understand this can happen from time to time. If your child is sick, please notify the office as soon as you are able.
We are here to support your family and your child as they grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Thank you for ensuring that your child is present.
