National Decision Day
Ultimately, Decision Day at CGHS was a powerful reminder of the potential within each of our students and the bright futures that await them. We are incredibly proud of every single one of our graduating seniors and look forward to seeing the amazing things they will accomplish.
Teachers Appreciation Week
Get ready to celebrate the incredible educators who make a difference every single day! Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and it's the perfect opportunity to recognize the amazing teachers who have inspired, guided, and supported you throughout your time at CGHS.
Think about a teacher who truly made an impact on you – someone who sparked your curiosity, helped you overcome a challenge, or simply made you feel seen and valued. Now is your chance to say thank you!
We encourage all students to take a moment next week to send a message – a simple email, a handwritten note, or even a quick verbal thank you – to a teacher who has made a difference in your educational journey. Your words of appreciation can mean the world to them and are a powerful way to acknowledge their dedication and hard work. Let's make Teacher Appreciation Week at CGHS truly special!
Key Club Visits Alaris Health At Cedar Grove!
The members of the Cedar Grove High School’s Key Club make smiles and spend time with Seniors Citizens at Alaris health! In the spirit of Easter, volunteers took part in assisting with Easter paintings, played in team competitions for prizes, and made life-lasting memories. Thank you to all of our volunteers for taking their time and collaborating with the residents!
Our Olympians
On April 30th, the Progression Class and Life Skills Class observed and participated in the Special Olympics at Brookdale Park. The weather was gorgeous and the students had a fantastic time. Some participated in a softball throw, a running race, and a walking race, which turned into a running race! They won awards for 5th place, 3rd place, and 2nd place!! The entire experience has us all looking forward to next year and making our group larger with participants and volunteers!
Angelo Albanese and Mathew Potters made history as the first Cedar Grove High School students to compete in the Special Olympics Games, held on April 30th at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield. The CGHS Special Olympics Team was coached by Mr. Kochanski, who proudly led the athletes in their inaugural competition. Angelo competed in the 50-meter run and earned a silver medal, placing 2nd in his group. Mathew participated in both the softball throw and the 50-meter run, earning bronze medals with 3rd-place finishes in each event.
Both athletes were cheered on by their teachers and fellow students, who showed tremendous support throughout the day. Their achievements marked a proud moment for Cedar Grove High School.
Congratulations Kailyn!
Helping Hands of India Club
The Helping Hands of India Club has collectively worked together for the past month and a half and has made a huge impact within the country India Itself. Over the past month, the club members had collected the basic necessities that many people in need had needed which we had called and asked for such as first aid kits, soap, lotion, slippers, combs, etc. and as a club we were able to make care packages and send them out to an underprivileged community in India. We also held meetings throughout to talk about current events in India and Holidays as currently India is in lots of tension. I should be getting photos of people FROM India with these care packages which I will share shortly as well. I just wanted to share the huge accomplishment I believe we have made as a club as many of the members are also busy individuals. It's crazy to think about how our high school students in Helping Hands of India were able to beneficially impact another country. We also have a clothing drive that will be finished this week for the club which will also be sent out to communities in India who are currently suffering and for those who are in need.
