WrightsboroElementary AIG September

Welcome Back! Welcome Back!

Hi! I'm thrilled to be working with our amazing AIG students this year. I’ve been teaching for 18 years, mostly in 3rd grade, but I’ve loved working with students from Kindergarten through 5th. I live near the beach (which I adore!) with my golden retriever, Max. I also have two wonderful adult kids who are attending college. In my free time, you’ll usually find me doing puzzles, playing word games, reading, walking, or planning my next travel adventure.

I believe that curiosity goes a long way—especially in learning. My classroom philosophy centers around creating a space where students feel safe to take risks, ask questions, and stretch their thinking. I’m passionate about helping gifted learners grow through challenge, creativity, and 21st-century skills like collaboration, communication, and critical thinking. I’m excited for a year full of exploration, discovery, and growth!

AIG in September

In class, our AIG students are diving deep into exciting, enriching topics that extend beyond the standard curriculum. In 4th grade, we will be exploring the human body systems, and in 5th grade, investigating the weather and water cycle—all while extending our knowledge through creative, hands-on projects that encourage curiosity and critical thinking.

In math, we’re reinforcing classroom concepts by collaboratively tackling real-world word problems, promoting strong problem-solving strategies, critical thinking, and mathematical communication.

One of 5th grade group projects this month includes designing a school-wide survey on lunch preferences. Students will be developing statistical questions, selecting random samples, creating and distributing surveys, collecting and analyzing the data, and presenting their findings through graphs, charts, and written reflections. To bring it all together, they'll write persuasive letters to our school based on their conclusions—combining math, literacy, and advocacy in a meaningful, real-world context
