Tipps STEAM Bits & Bytes
Weeks of September 5 - 16, 2022
From the Assistant Principal
Hello, Jr. Jag Families!
It's been a strange yet awesome start to yet another year at Tipps STEAM Academy! Seeing all of our returning students has been wonderful, and meeting all our new faces has been amazing!
While our technology issues have definitely presented a challenge over the last couple of weeks, our teachers and students have perservered, and learning and growing has continued! The MISD technology folks have worked tirelessly, and things are really close to being back to normal.
Now that are kids are mostly used to routines and procedures, it's time to get the learning going strong. This month, students will start taking screeners and assessments that allow our teachers to know how tailor learning to individual student needs. These assessements also give us the opportunity to see how much students grow as the year goes on.
Again, thank you so much for entrusting your kids to us. It is an honor and a privilege to spend our days with them, and we don't take that lightly. If you need anything, please let us know!

MISD Technology
For New to District Students – To request a new device or to report a damaged device, parents need to Enter A Help Ticket from the Technology Department’s page on the district site. It’s very important that the parent does this because it requires a signature stating that you have read/acknowledged the Student Device Management Handbook. To request a new charger or case, fill out a request here. For information about insurance for your student's device, please review the PDF below.

Arrival/Dismissal
A couple of additional reminders this week: Parents, please remain in your cars at arrival and dismissal. We have plenty of staff in the drive to make sure kids get to and from the building safely. Please just make sure they have their backpacks ready to go as soon as you get to the drop-off point. Also, parents, please be sure you are pulling as far up as possible, especially at dismissal. Doing both of these will help arrival and dismissal go faster for everyone!
Arrival seems to be going well. Please remember to follow the teachers on duty's instructions. Please note that staff do not monitor any students dropped off before 7:30. This isn't a safe practice. Also, if you want your student to eat breakfast, it is imperative students get to school before 7:55 so they have time to eat before the 8:00 bell.
Front Walkers: If you meet your child at school to walk home together, please do not wait for students on the sidewalks near the doors. Our students can easily get lost among the crowd and this becomes a safety concern. Please wait for your child in the grassy area near the marquee. Teachers walk the students to the crosswalk. You will be able to meet your child before they get there. Please see the photo below for the area we need for you to wait in.
We thank you all so very much for helping us keep our Jr. Jags and staff safe.
