Dear Eagles,

As we approach report card pick-up and parent-teacher conferences, I want to extend my sincere appreciation for your ongoing partnership in your child's education. These conferences are a vital opportunity for us to connect, share insights, and work together to support your child's success.

We understand that parent-teacher conferences are significant moments for communication and collaboration. In our meetings, we aim to focus on celebrating your child’s strengths and fostering a growth mindset. We are encouraging our staff to use asset-based language during these conferences. This approach allows us to build stronger partnerships with you, while empowering your student to reach their full potential.

We are committed to using our words to build bridges, celebrate our students’ strengths, and empower them to reach their full potential. We look forward to meeting with you. Thank you for your continued support.

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on April 1st from 11:00 am until 6:15 pm. Staff will take a break from 2 to 3. Here are the links to sign up for parent-teacher conferences. Also, the following dates are being shared as reminders of upcoming testing.

Spring Pep Rally 4/4

We will have our final pep rally of the school year this Friday. The schedule is being shared as a reminder of the order of the colloquium and flexes. As always, you're expected to follow the Assembly Etiquette that was shared at the beginning of the school year (ie. sit in your assigned section with your advisory teacher, cheer on your peers or remain silent, etc.).

Student Spotlight

Congratulations to Lindblom's Robotics Team! They spent the majority of their spring break preparing for their final competition.

Over this Spring Break, five Lindblom students participated in a week long Close-Up Program. Close-Up is a fifty+ year organization that is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, civic education organization that believes a strong democracy requires active, informed participation by all citizens. Seniors Simone Bishop, Kiara Davis, Chloe Eason, Daisy Rodriguez, and Cameron Sanders had excellent time learning about various historical eras of the U.S.A.; they participated in simulated Congress debates, analytical discussions, and learned more about our complex government. They were able to tour Howard University with our tour guide being a LMSA alumnus, Yazmin Williams (Class of '24). On this trip, they also met with Congressman Mike Quigley (Representative of the 5th District of Illinois) and asked him questions related to recent political developments. It was exciting to learn that his legislative aide/legislative correspondent was a former Lindblom student as well, Jaelyn Evans. On this trip as well, students met with senior staff members, Caroline Fatemi, from the office of Senator Dick Durbin, and Brian Muthangya, from the office of Senator Tammy Duckworth. Throughout this trip our students explored the D.C. area with a lens of criticality and a love of learning.

Congratulations to our Symphonic Band Students! Our students performed beautifully and received superior ratings (the top-tier ranking) from all three adjudicators! Many of the judges in their recorded comments spoke about the notably high-levels of musicianship of our students' playing. Several other colleagues also raved about the maturity of their sound and stylistic nuance.

Hazel Health Parent Referral Link

Parent referrals launched yesterday: We are now live with what I will call "Phase I," where parents/guardians can make self-referrals for their students. If parents think their child could benefit from these mental health services, they may request teletherapy and explore more information about the program at getstarted.hazel.co/district/cps.

The OSD Art Project

The OSD Art Project: We ALL are Special was created as a unique way to showcase the awareness of our CPS students with disabilities. The artwork created through this project will be hung throughout the OSD offices, in the loop and throughout the city, and shared with CPS leadership, as a visual and inspiring reminder of the more than 62,000 students with disabilities and the work we need to do to ensure a rightful presence for each and everyone of them. Mrs Crone-Griffin, Miss Gerleve, and Mr Sutphen's Art classes worked hard to create these 6 canvases.

Traffic Plans

Our last PAC meeting (see the recording HERE) was spent discussing the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up situation. We are working on a few things to address the situation:

  1. We are drafting a revised morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up policy for families to follow. Families following the new policy will help to make drop-off/pick-up more efficient.
  2. We are collaborating with the Alderwoman and the community to consider possible changes to traffic flow and parking restrictions.
  3. We are forming a parent task-force to support morning drop-off. This will include a group of parents/family members who will be given special vests to support the enforcement of efficient morning drop-off.

You can sign-up to join the parent task force or to be part of the committee of parent/guardians which reviews and finalizes our drop-off/pick-up policy by entering your name HERE. You can reach out to AP Meadows (mmeadows@cps.edu) or our PAC Chair Keith Kysel (kkysel@cps.edu) with any questions or suggestions.
