2026

Forest families,
As our weather begins to warm up and students can go outside for recess, please make sure your child is dressed for the chilly mornings. They are loving going outside and getting some exercise!
We just had our Book Bingo/Art Show last week. This event was a great time for all! Thanks to Ms. Melissa and our ELA teachers that planned it all. Thank you to Mrs. Schwein for all the time you took to display the artwork of our students.
We also had our Small/Tall Candy Ball at the end of February. The event was beautiful and it seems like everyone had a blast! Thank you to Sarah Dorchak, Michelle Ettaher, and the Parent Club that all did such a great job putting this event together!
Coming up next will be our M-Step testing for 3-5 grades. This will take place in April/May. The week they are taking it, make sure your child is well-rested and that they have a good breakfast.
If you have any questions or concerns, call the office at (734) 479-2550. You can also email myself (gmeli@riverviewschools.com) or Ms. Annie (aprusakiewicz@riverviewschools.com).

Forest Elementary Jumps for Heart Health
During the week of March 2, Forest Elementary students and their families participated in the annual Jump Rope for Heart event. Throughout the week, students and willing parents came to the gym to jump rope together while supporting a great cause.
Thanks to the enthusiasm and generosity of the Forest Elementary community, the school raised a total of $3,207.99 for the American Heart Association. The fundraiser helps support heart health education and research while encouraging students to stay active and take care of their hearts.
A special congratulations goes to Ms. Schock’s kindergarten class, which generated the highest total class donation of $689. As a reward for their outstanding effort, the class will receive extra gym time.
Individual recognition also goes to Emma V. from Mrs. Grunwald’s class, who was the top fundraiser in the school. As a special prize, Emma will get to be the gym teacher for the day.
Forest Elementary would like to thank all students, families, and staff members who participated and helped make this event such a success. Your support made a big difference!

Courtesy Clothes Closet
Are your child's clothing drawers overflowing? Does your child have clothing that does not fit any longer? We are looking for gently used items for our Courtesy Closet. Items would be available for students that need spare clothes during the school day. For those spills during lunch, in STEAM or for when students accidently fall into puddles or mud outside. Items for children in grades K-2 are in high demand. Stretch pants, running pants and leggings are most desirable. Please drop off donations to the office. Thank you so much!
Visit our "Lost & Found rack" inside the vestibule
Our Lost and Found rack is always overflowing with found items. If you feel your child has lost any items, please feel free to check out the items located in the vestibule at the main entrance before or after school.
- The importance of the WATCH D.O.G.S. program: To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
- To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.
- WatchDOGS are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures who volunteer for at least one day each year at an official WATCH D.O.G.S.® school. During the day, WatchDOGS may read and work on flash cards with students, play at recess, eat lunch with students, watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well.
- By taking time to come to campus and serve the students and teachers, fathers demonstrate that education is important. A male role model can positively impact a student’s life in three critical areas: academic performance, self-esteem, social behavior.
