Beckwith Bulletin

August 16, 2024
Dear Beckwith Families,
We hope this message finds you well and that you've had a restful and enjoyable summer break. School is right around the corner!
This year, we are excited to continue our journey of learning, growth, and community building at Beckwith Middle School. Our dedicated team of educators has been working hard to prepare engaging and challenging learning experiences that will inspire your children to reach their full potential. We are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
In addition to our academic programs, we have a variety of extracurricular activities and events planned to enrich our students' school experience. I encourage all students to get involved and take advantage of the opportunities available to them.
Communication between school and home is key to a successful school year, so please be sure to stay informed by reading our Beckwith Bulletin which will be emailed to families between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. almost every Friday during the school year.
We also invite all parents to join the Rehoboth PTSA. The PTSA plays a vital role in supporting our school community, and your involvement is a great way to stay connected and contribute to our students' success. Whether you can attend meetings or help with events, your participation makes a difference!
We value your partnership and look forward to working together to ensure a positive and productive year for all.
Let’s make this school year the best one yet!
Best regards,
Stephen Donovan, Ed.D., Principal
Amy Abrams, Assistant Principal
BECKWITH MIDDLE SCHOOL FIFTH GRADE AND NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION
Transitioning from elementary to middle school can be a bit daunting for both students and parents. To ease this process, we held a "Step Up" Day for fourth-grade students on June 11th, 2024, and we’re planning an orientation for parents, incoming fifth graders, and new students on Monday, August 26th, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at BMS.
The August 26th orientation, just before the start of school, offers students a second chance to tour the building and get acquainted with Beckwith Middle School. This time, parents are encouraged to join as we delve deeper into Beckwith Middle School’s educational program.
2023-2024 YEARBOOKS
There was a delay in the arrival of yearbooks last year because there was a problem with the yearbook company's factory. As a result, we distributed yearbooks on the June 27th and July 17th . There will be one final pickup date right before the New Student Orientation on August 26th from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
FALL 2024 SPORTS SIGN UPS
There is still time to sign up for fall sports. We are moving Cross Country to the fall instead of the spring this year because that is when the sport is offered in high school and there are twice as many teams in the Massasoit League competing in the fall versus the spring.
Students entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade should use this link to sign up for Girls' Soccer, Boys' Soccer, Girls' Cross Country, or Boys' Cross Country. The Massasoit League follows the MIAA rules in that students may only be a member of one team at a time during a season.
Please remember, and remind your student, that they are students first, athletes second. In order to remain on a school team and be able to play, their primary responsibility is behavior and academic performance in school.
