Holy Rosary School Derby

We had a great day in Broome on Friday at St Mary's College, with our Inter-school Athletics Team representing Holy Rosary exceptionally well. Our small team arrived early for the bus trip across and then once in Broome stepped up their energy levels and participated to the best of their ability. I was very proud of our team, with many of the students volunteering to go in additional events so that we were able to put forward a team or competitor. A special congratulations to Zendaya, who won equal Champion Girl, massive achievement with a very competitive field.

We have a staffing update, with Miss Margaret leaving Holy Rosary at the end of the term. We will miss her energy, knowledge, wisdom and positivity along with her incredible work in the RE and Literacy space with our students and staff. We wish her all the best in her move back to Perth to be closer to her family.

Please can I ask that families DO NOT allow children to bring special items to school, unless for specific news telling which will be organised by the classroom teacher. There have been a few issues across the school with items and it is not a staff responsibility to look after these items during the day (unless organised by the classroom teacher). Any toys or equipment required for children to use during the day will be supplied by the school.

Head lice - please can families regularly check their children's head for head lice and treat as soon as lice is identified. Any child that has shoulder length hair MUST have all hair pulled up and away from their face (we do not encourage half up hair styles). hair may need to be treated more regularly to break the head lice cycle and a reminder that all bedding or fabric such as on lounge chairs, should be treated to assist in the breaking of the cycle.

God Bless.

Miss Melanie

Thank you to Father Steve for all his hard work across the Derby community. We wish you all the best for your return to your Dongara Parish and your family. Best wishes and thank you from all of us at Holy Rosary School. There will no longer be a Mass on Saturday nights and each Sunday where possible, there will be a Liturgy. Once a Priest has been appointed to Derby we will update through our newsletter.

Congratulations to our awesome Athletics team for their fantastic effort on Friday at St Mary's College for the inter-school athletics carnival. BIG shout out to Mr Zane and Miss Lynette for helping out on the day - we could not have had such a great day without your help. Special congratulations to Zendaya - equal Year 4 Champion Girl.

A BIG, BIG Thank you to Miss Collette and Mr Griffin for organising a sensational Neon PJ Party Disco. It was great to see so many of our students having a blast dancing and singing to some of their favourite songs. Thank you to Mr Jaylan for cooking the sausage sizzle - it was very well received. Our disco raised more than $750 to go towards our playground upgrade - thank you families. Finally a thank you to our staff and parents who helped to supervise on the night as these events are only able to happen when we all work together. Check out some pics from the night.

It is essential for Health Care Card holders to complete the necessary form immediately to be eligible for the school fee discount. The school is provided with additional funding to support your child's learning programs so through keeping this up-to-date we are able to offer exciting activities like the recent Scitech incursion and resource our classrooms appropriately.

All Health care Cards MUST be current so if yours has expired please come in and provide the updated details to Miss Jenna in Admin.
