A Note from the Principal
Dear Hawk families,
We have had an amazing start to the school year! Our attendance is high, students are regularly earning Golden Hawks and Positive Office Referrals and learning a lot! On October 30, we will host our annual Halloween Costume Parade. Information is included in this message. We invite ALL hawks to join us - with or without a costume! We also invite any Watch D.O.G.S. to join us for crowd control. Please email me or Nicole Wolf nwolf@bcps.org.
October 30 also marks the end of the 1st marking period (can you believe it?!). I encourage all families to sign into Focus and check your child's grades. Now is the time to communicate with the teacher on any concerns that you have.
Finally, this month we begin before and after school clubs for students in grades 3-5. A master list is included below. Teachers will share information for each specific club in the coming weeks. We hope your child can join us!
Thank you for your unending support for our students and our school!

Yarn Crafting in Art
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, fifth-grade students are learning about the Huichol, an Indigenous people of Mexico and the United States (California, New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas). Using a K-W-L chart, students explored what they already knew about the Huichol people, what they wanted to learn about them, and what they discovered about their culture through text analysis. Students learned that the Huichol people are credited with the origins of yarn painting. Through their yarn paintings ,the Huichol people show that we are connected to nature and all living things. Through this unit, students are connecting their own artwork to the natural imagery and artistic traditions of the Huichol people. Each student is selecting and drawing a flower native to Mexico to turn into a yarn painting inspired by the Huichol people.
CCBC Guest Readers
Members of the CCBC Baseball Team were invited to Vincent Farm Elementary to read to our students. The books shared were written in Spanish and English. The members of the team come from diverse Latino backgrounds, and it was heartwarming to see them connect with so many of our students! Our goal is to teach our students to dream big and see successful young adults fulfilling their passion and goals.

All volunteers must redo this every school year!
