Week of Respect @ Tuscan October 4, 2021-October 8, 2021!
Dear Tuscan Family,
New Jersey public schools recognize the first full week in October as the “Week of Respect”.
At Tuscan, the “Week of Respect” is intended to prevent incidences of harassment, intimidation, and bullying (HIB). Throughout this week, students will be engaged in grade level appropriate read alouds and morning meeting discussion prompts, created by Tuscan School Social Worker, Ms. Bugg that will encourage students to continue to refrain from bullying, stand up for others, and to respect differences.
Anti-bullying, empathy-activating class discussions will promote the Tuscan way by providing students with guidance on how best to ROAR (Respect Others and Act Responsibly).
Thank you to teachers, students and parents for joining us in a week long opportunity for community-building by participating as best you can.
See below for the calendar of events for October 4, 2021 - October 8, 2021.
Dear Tuscan Family,
We are excited to share with you that our school will be participating in “Family PE Week” from October 4-8.
Daily physical activity has many benefits for kids, such as increasing their energy, focus, and readiness to learn and reducing stress and anxiety. Being active is always important, but never more than during COVID-19. Of course, physical activity has benefits for people of all ages, so helping our students’ families be active together is one of our Physical Education goals.
As you may remember, our school conducted “Bring PE to your Family Week” last year and the participation was awesome! We hope that your family will be active together again this coming week! We have included Active Family Challenges and you can also choose any activities you love to do together!
The national sponsor of this event, Active Schools, hopes that you will share your family’s experience on social media in words and photos – using the hashtag #FamiliesLovePE.
Please take a minute to join the Active Schools movement at:

Your influence is important for the support of Physical Education in our school!
We look forward to hearing all about the fun activities you did as a family during Family PE Week!
With Appreciation,
Mrs. Sullivan & Mr. Panayoutou

Tuscan Construction Update from the Tuscan Tidings 06.28.21
Construction work on the Tuscan blacktop beginning this summer is part of the District’s Long Range Facilities Plan (LRFP).
To commemorate the launch of construction at Tuscan, the South Orange & Maplewood School District along with EPIC Construction hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, June 28, 2021.
Although we will deeply miss the Tuscan blacktop, we will hold dear in our hearts all the happy memories of the beloved space.
Please know that while construction is taking place, we will do our best to more fully utilize all available outdoor space at Tuscan. When construction is complete, the portable classrooms will be removed and the new space gained will be developed for safe outdoor play and arrival/dismissal. We are so excited that in the near future all Tuscan students and teachers will be connected under one roof.
New patterns for student arrival/morning line up and dismissal will be shared prior to the start of the 2021-2022 school year.
