Name Strength and Story Awards | September 2025

Congratulations to two amazing CPS educators, Waldo Gomez from the Kelly Elementary School and Marcella Moreno from Chelsea High School, on receiving Name, Strength and Story Awards last night at the Chelsea School Committee meeting.

Waldo Gomez, a 4th-5th grade Caminos Spanish teacher, was nominated in part due to his influence on generations of Chelsea kids. He was nominated by the Kelly School administration, referencing many reasons why he should be considered for this recognition, including his ability to build relationships with students and belief in the power of biliteracy for Chelsea kids.

Marcella Moreno, a School Counselor at Chelsea High School, was nominated by her colleagues. Her nomination referenced how she treats students and families with so much respect and promotes the sharing of their cultures throughout CHS. She goes above and beyond to support students and staff. Marcella meets with students after school and on weekends to help with college applications, always keeping them at the forefront of her work.

Congratulations to you both, Waldo and Marcella!
