Reading
In Unit 2, Characters Facing Challenges, students are exploring how characters in our texts need to overcome some hardship, sometimes brought on themselves, and sometimes by others. In each story, characters must find a way to solve their problems. We will be focusing on topics such as making predictions as we read and how characters react and respond to events. We will also be reading some folktales and exploring connections between stories.

UFLI
Students will be grouped based on their Phonics needs, so that instruction will be focused specifically on each child. We will read a variety of stories and play different word games.

Math
We are working on adding and subtracting within 100 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and the relationship between addition and subtraction, and we are also working on solving story problems with what they know.
