Latest Update on High Schools Configuration
The examination of the high schools configuration continues after an engagement period. The West Bend School District heard from a wide range of voices including families, community members, students, staff, and alumni. At this time, we are synthesizing all feedback gathered through the engagement activities and will present the details to the West Bend School Board for discussion on March 9. The board may take action on the configuration at its March 23 meeting.
Still want to share your thoughts? If you would like your feedback included in the synthesis presented to the board, please email your thoughts to wbsd@wbsd-schools.org.
Human Growth & Development Materials Available to View
Grades 4 and 5 will complete the Human Growth & Development unit this spring. Letters will be sent to parents and guardians with more detail on what is covered. Parents or guardians who wish to view the materials used in the curriculum can do so until March 15 at:
West Bend Community Library, 630 Poplar St., West Bend, during regular hours. (Go to the circulation desk to request the materials.)
WBSD Education Service Center, 735 S. Main St., West Bend, 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on weekdays.
Another option is to contact your child’s school and set up a time to preview the materials at the school. Review our website for more information on Human Growth & Development. Opt-out letters are also available on the website.
Pre-planned Search Conducted This Week
On Wednesday, March 4, the West Bend Police Department and Jackson Police Department conducted a pre-planned K-9 search of the parking lots of East and West High Schools. During the searches, the schools were placed on a hold, which includes clearing hallways and having students remain in a classroom continuing to receive instruction until the “all clear” is given. Staff and families were notified following the visit.
Please review the “Items that Cannot be Brought to School” section on our safety and tip lines webpage on the website with your child. No arrests were made and no citations were issued. Thank you to everyone who participated in today’s event.
Thank you to Morrie's Honda in West Bend for its generous donation to the West Bend Schools to cover outstanding student meal balances. Donations were made by staff and customers of Morrie's, and the dealership then doubled that amount. Pictured is Elvis Manjusak of Morrie's with Superintendent Jen Wimmer.

Wrestler Places Third at State
At the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Championships last weekend, junior Jack Lubinski finished 3rd at 113 lbs.
Fundraiser Featured a “Dancing With Our Stars” Competition
The annual East Dance team event, Dancing With Our Stars, features members of the dance team doing a dance routine with members of the community and each pair is judged by a distinguished panel.
This fun event takes community members out of their comfort zones and into a nerve wracking performance in the auditorium. The top three places this year were earned by West Bend School District staff and their East Dance partners. Winning the event was East Athletic Director MacKenzie Welnak with Sophia Justman. Taking second was Jackson 4th grade teacher Katie Boisvert with Karsyn Andrae and third was Badger Dean of Students Hayley Wilhelmi with McKenna Davidson.
Charity Week Ends with Charity Dance
The Charity Dance held on February 28 was the culmination of a successful Charity Week at East and West High Schools. Funds raised from the dance supported the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Several students were voted by their peers to be on the Charity Dance court (left to right in the photo):
