Read-a-Thon/Literacy Night
Starting in January, we will be doing our annual DHES Read-a-thon! Every year it is amazing to see the number of minutes our students read! This year, we are partnering with the Kane County Cougars, where students can complete designated reading minutes and become part of the Kane County Cougars Reading Club. This includes a free ticket to an upcoming Cougars game in May. Much more information about this program and how to participate will come home soon!
To kick off our Kane County Cougars Read-a-thon, we will be hosting a Snow Much Fun To Read Literacy Night here at Dundee Highlands on January 7th. See the two images below for more information, including a book exchange (gently used books should be brought in next week)!
We look forward to promoting the love of reading during the month of January and at our Family Literacy Night!
Winter Weather
Winter weather is here! As a reminder, students will go outside unless the 'feel like' temperature is below 10 degrees. It is IMPERATIVE that students have hats, gloves, and a jacket for recess. If students wish to play in the snow, they also need snow pants and boots. If you are in need of any of these items for your student, please reach out to the main office.
Family Dinner Support
To better support our students and families following the recent expiration of SNAP emergency benefits, District 300 will temporarily extend the serving hours of our Dinner Program beginning November 3. The program remains free for all District 300 students ages 4–18, regardless of income, school, or residence within the district.
Dinner service is offered at schools participating in a federally funded meal program:
Dundee-Crown High School (DCHS): until 6:00 p.m.
Carpentersville Middle School (CMS): until 5:15 p.m.
Golfview Elementary (GVES): until 5:15 p.m.
Meadowdale Elementary (MES): until 5:15 p.m.
Lake in the Hills Elementary (LITH): until 4:15 p.m.
