The drop off and pick up procedures for this school year will be the same as last year!
ALL K -12th Grade STUDENT DROP-OFF will be through the elementary loop in front of the elementary building. PLEASE PULL ALL THE WAY FORWARD, past the turn, so that we don’t have traffic back up into the street. Students will walk down and enter the building at the cafeteria entrance. There will be supervision in the morning and after school.
Toddler drop off will continue to be in front of the north east entrance and those students will be able to enter through the toddler entrance.
Preschool drop off will be in front of the preschool building.
Only buses will be allowed to drop off in the loop in front of the cafeteria entrance.
High school students will be able to park in the high school parking lot and enter the school through the cafeteria entrance. There will be no student drop off allowed in the parking lot areas.
The same procedures will be in place for after school pick up. Buses will pick up students in the loop in front of the cafeteria. All parent pick up will be in the loop in front of the elementary building.
There will be NO DROP OFF OR PICK UP behind the school or at any other areas around the school.
We will be monitoring student entry into the buildings. Staff will greet students each morning at the doors.
Thank you for supporting the district in keeping students safe and the buildings secure.

COMMUNICATION PLAN
Center Consolidated School District
Communications Plan
2022-2023
Purpose
The Center Consolidated School District’s Communications Plan for the 2022-23 school year will be to ensure that all stakeholders are kept informed of district happenings in a timely manner. This shall include district work focused on our District Action Plan, strategic goals, events, emergency situations, and regular updates. It is the goal of the district to effectively communicate and create an environment of cooperation, collaboration, and a sense of community.
Effective communication involves getting information out to all involved parties along with listening to the staff and the community. These structures will be put in place to ensure an eye towards continuous improvement. This plan will be geared towards families, students, community members, business partners, media, emergency services, and the Board of Education.
Implementation Plan
The Communications Plan contains the strategies and actions that fall under the following categories:
Parent and Community Outreach
Family, school, and community partnering can be defined as the collaboration of families, schools and communities as active partners in improving learner, classroom, school, district and state outcomes.
o Cultivate and strengthen relationships with the Center community to encourage partnership and support of the district.
o Regular communication to the community through newsletters, district website, and district App which includes several social media sites, live news feed, text messaging and voice calls
o Family, School and Community partnering is one of the Essential Components of our MTSS framework- welcome families, communicate effectively, support student success, speak up for every child, share power, collaborate with the community
o Representative family/parent participation on teams and committees- District Accountability Committee, Calendar Committee, PICS, DLT, BLT
o Parent liaisons at both elementary and secondary level to support families and communication efforts.
o Families and school staff engage in regular, two-way, meaningful communication about student learning through email, phone calls, text messages, and letters
FUTURE TOWN TOUR
Friday, September 15th, 4-7PM
Future Town brings a new skool tailgate party to town in this localized celebration of music, culture and sports. Center Consolidated Schools will partner with Future Town Tour on a multilingual pre-game festival with locally-catered Mexican food and circus elements. Entertainment includes live music by local Guatemalan band Marimba Espitiru Maya, and 2MX2—a multilingual hip-hop group out of Denver. Members of the Vikings High School band will join the eclectic music celebration. Local residents are invited to bring drums, instruments, poems, songs and raps for an open jam session at 4PM. We will cheer on the hometown Center Vikings high football team at 7PM.
CROSSING GUARDS NEEDED
Center Consolidated School District wants to welcome back all students to our new
2023 – 2024 school year.
Fortunately, our volunteer Crossing Guards are helping all students safely cross the street in the mornings and after school. We ask all Center families and students: Please “Do not Pass” and STOP when you see any Crossing Guards in yellow or pink vests with a red stop sign in the middle of the crosswalk; Remember speed limit at the school zone is 15mph. We would like to keep us all safe.
Crossing Guards are stationed along Broadway St. in the school zone area between 7:35 a.m. and 7:48 a.m. and after school from 3:50 p.m. to approximately 4:05 p.m. Also, remember there is no peeling in the school zone and no parking on the drop-off or bus lines and emergency lines.
Thank you for all your support.

PSAT TESTING MUST SIGN UP BY SEPTEMBER 7TH
The PSAT/NMSQT is a program that offers students the opportunity for possible scholarship qualification for the National Merit Scholarship Program.
This program pays for most all student expenses wherever they would like to pursue their college studies. Juniors and sophomores are able to test, but must agree to pay for it. For juniors, it is their opportunity to qualify to go on to the next step of the competition. For sophomores, it is an opportunity to practice for the test before taking it next year.
This year, all students testing will need to pay a fee. The amount depends on the student’s qualification status, but is expected to be $18.00 or less. If students and parents would like the opportunity to take the test, they must sign up with Mrs. Alfson by September 7, 2023, at 4:00 PM. Forms will be available at the high school office.

ATTENDANCE
Attendance
Why is being in school every day important?
IT IMPACTS YOUR GRADES
Even if you miss just a few days here and there, your grades are likely to suffer.
IT AFFECTS HOW YOU LEARN
When you are in class you learn the material along with your classmates. When you’re not in class, you need to learn the material on your own, which is stressful, time-consuming, and a much less effective way to learn.
GRADUATION IS AT RISK
Chronic absenteeism is the leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school and not graduate.
YOUR FUTURE DEPENDS ON IT
When you’re in school every day, you get a better education, which means you’ll have more career options and a much brighter future!
MISSING TOO MUCH SCHOOL?
-Have a good night time routine that includes getting everything ready for the next day.
-Go to bed early enough to ensure you get enough sleep-and don’t risk oversleeping in the morning.
-Have a plan in place if you miss the bus or your ride to school.
-Form a support network at the school, including friends, teachers, and other staff.
-Know and understand your school’s attendance policy, and know that to do if you must miss school.
* Please understand that as a Parent/Guardian, you are responsible for notifying the school secretary to excuse your child. If the call is not completed by the end of the day your child will be marked as unexcused.
If you have attendance problems because you don’t have transportation to school, there are problems at home, you’re being bullied, or there’s another problem, talk to your school counselor. Your counselor can help you with most any issues that are preventing you from regularly attending school.
