Principal's Message
Keeping it Real - Celebrating our Highest "A" Grade Ever!
Dear SJHS Families,
This week, the Arizona Department of Education released the 2025-2026 school letter grades, and I am proud to share that St. Johns High School earned the highest "A" letter grade score in school history!
This accomplishment reflects an extraordinary year of growth. We achieved our highest growth score ever, nearly reaching the state's maximum growth points. We also earned the highest number of bonus points in school history and improved in every accountability area measured by the state. Our graduation rate and graduation improvement scores remained at the maximum points available, and our College and Career Readiness Indicator score remained remarkably strong, with only a minimal change from last year.
As a result of these achievements, St. Johns High School was ranked 16th among all high schools in Arizona and was the highest-ranked high school in both Apache and Navajo Counties.
This recognition belongs to our entire community. Thank you to our students for their hard work and determination, our teachers and staff for their unwavering commitment to excellence, our parents and families for their partnership, and our community members for the support you provide our schools every day. This is a celebration we all share together!
Each year, one of our primary school improvement goals is to maintain an "A" letter grade. While a letter grade is certainly not the only measure of a successful school, it is an important indicator of how well we are fulfilling our mission. Arizona's accountability system looks beyond graduation rates and test scores. It measures academic growth, student achievement, and college and career readiness, reflecting the work we do to prepare students not only to graduate, but to thrive after high school.
At St. Johns High School, our mission has always been larger than helping students earn a diploma. We are committed to helping every student discover a pathway to success, whether that means attending college, entering the workforce, pursuing technical education, serving in the military, or following another meaningful path. Our strong performance in the state's accountability system demonstrates that we are making progress toward that vision.
This achievement gives us an opportunity to celebrate, but it also inspires us to keep improving. We are proud of what has been accomplished, grateful for the people who made it possible, and excited about the future we continue to build together for our students.
As we celebrate this achievement, we also look forward to Veterans Day next week. Our school district will gather for our annual Veterans Day assembly in the high school auditorium to honor the men and women who have served our nation with courage and sacrifice. Veterans Day gives us an opportunity to pause, reflect, and express gratitude for the freedoms and opportunities we enjoy because of those who answered the call to serve.
We are especially grateful for the veterans who continue to impact our students every day, including our own science and automotive teacher, Mr. Joel Wareing. Through his service to both our country and our school, he exemplifies the character, commitment, and dedication we hope to instill in our students.
As students and staff enjoy the Veterans Day holiday, I encourage everyone to take a moment to remember and thank the veterans in your life. The success we celebrate as a school community is made possible in part because of the freedoms they have helped preserve. We are proud to honor their legacy and grateful for their service.
With appreciation,
Mrs. Mo

A BIG SHOUT OUT TO FIVE OF OUR LEGACY LEADERSHIP CLUB STUDENTS!
We are excited to announce that five outstanding Legacy Leadership Club members have been selected as scholarship recipients to represent Apache County at the 2027 CADCA National Youth Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C.!
Students were originally told we would be selecting four representatives. However, after reading the thoughtful, well-written essays submitted by these students, we knew we couldn't limit it to four. Their responses showed leadership, a genuine concern for their peers and communities, and a desire to make a positive difference.
Students were asked to share what being a positive leader means to them, identify a challenge facing youth in their school or community, and explain how they would use what they learn at CADCA to make a difference when they return home.
We are proud of these five stellar young leaders and can't wait to see how they grow, what they learn, and how they bring those ideas back to Apache County!
Congratulations to Ty Hendriksen, Levi Hendriksen, Annie Tryon, Avery Lee, and Sara Wahl!
