6th Week of School - Progress Reports, New ELA Teacher, Fall Festival
Principal Batten's Weekly Message
Good evening V3A students, families, and staff. This is Dr. Batten, Principal of Vance Virtual Village Academy with your Huskies Weekly News: https://v3a.online/HWN
We are excited to announce that our new Grades 6-8 ELA teacher (Ms. Whitney Brown) will be starting tomorrow! Our current 6-8ELA guest teachers from the VCS central office (Aarika Sandlin & Davia Wilkins) will work with Ms. Brown this week to help her transition from VCMS to V3A. Students, please check your emails frequently to look for updated Zoom class links for our middle school ELA classes. We are so thankful for outstanding virtual teaching from both Ms. Sandlin and Ms. Wilkins, who have provided amazing lessons while still serving VCS in their district roles.
All students now have an individual Google Drive folder, where teachers are placing progress reports, diagnostic reports, and other student-specific academic information. Some progress reports were delayed due to technology challenges with integration between Canvas (where more work is completed) and Infinite Campus (where official student grades are stored). We are working closely with the VCS Technology Department to resolves these problems as soon as possible. Please contact your child's homeroom teacher if you have not yet received an email about your student's individual Google Folder. Please contact your child's teachers if you have questions about grades/assignments.
This week we will finish the iReady Reading and Math diagnostic assessment for grades 6-8 and begin ExactPath Reading and Math diagnostic for many of our high school students. Students should check their emails daily to make sure that they do not miss completion of these important Beginning of the Year (BOY) diagnostic assessments.
This October, V3A students will participate in the Kids Heart Challenge (KHC) to help students learn about about making healthy life choices for themselves and their families. More details will be shared this week after our kick-off Zoom sessions.
We continue to offer in-person student support at V3A on Tuesdays and Thursday (8:30 am ~ 12:30 pm), although we have adjusted times to meet staff schedules. please sign-up in advance each week so that we know who to expect. https://v3a.online/StudentSupport
