Enjoy Time with Family
As you get older, school, work and other commitments will make it hard to plan that summer trip to the beach or take that family vacation. Take some time to enjoy your family. Plan family trips that will bring you closer together. Maybe combine family time with service or an experience that will benefit everyone.
- Visit Beach/Mountains
- Camping / State Parks
- Summer Mission Trip
- Visit Family
- Drive across the State
- Travel together to visit College Campus
- Visit Museums/Historic Locations
Get a Job
Working during the summer when you are not in school, gives you a great opportunity to build your resume, meet mentors and earn money. Many organizations and businesses rely on part-time help from high school students to help during busy times. Many companies are having a hard time finding employees. That gives students a great chance to obtain employment. Start looking now and apply for summer employment or internships.

Is there a class you have been wanting to take that does not fit in your school schedule or is not offered at your school? Use the summer to take a class. Mitchell Community College offers classes during the summer. Talk to your guidance counselor about how to enroll in summer classes at Mitchell through your high school.
Many organizations offer online learning as well. Take the summer to learn a new skill. Get out of your comfort zone. Try something NEW! You might like it!

Use the Summer to Visit College Campus
Students can reach out to College Admissions offices and schedule a campus tour or visit campus more informally without a guide. It is always wise to check the school's website to see what they offer and make sure you know where you can park.
If you know a student that attends a college or university see if they will give you a tour.
Be sure to check your Crosby Scholars Portal. We hope to offer a college tour this summer.
