Last summer, 46 CHHS students studied abroad in Spain, France, England, Japan, Ireland, Germany, the Dominican Republic, Australia, Mexico...As a Global Navigator School, CIEE awards CHHS students upwards of $50,000 in scholarship funds to study abroad with their respective programs.

Seniors and Parents of Seniors,

Cady Photography will be on campus one more time with a Senior Road Show on Tuesday, October 21st, during the school day. Seniors will need to sign up for a time by contacting Cady Photography through their online accounts at www.cady.com or by calling the studio at 678-534-5384. Once an appointment is set, students will be given a hall pass to have their pictures taken. See the attached flyer for details.

Tutoring at Hargraves Community Center begins October 6. Free sessions are offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00–7:00pm.

Tutors include UNC students and retired teachers. And again -- IT'S FREE!

Auditions for the fall musical ANNIE will be held in Hanes Theatre after school on September 22nd and 24th. All students are welcome to participate. Please see Mr. Drago for more details.

How to Attend a College Rep Visit:

(Geared toward Seniors)

1. Register in Naviance (via Clever)

   • Go to Colleges → Research Colleges → College Visits.

   • Space is limited—sign up early!

2. Check the schedule of upcoming visits in Naviance.

3. Talk to your teacher before attending. Teachers may deny permission if you haven’t asked in advance. Show your confirmation email to request a hall pass from your teacher.

4. Unless otherwise specified, college rep visits will be held in the Teleconference Room inside the Media Center. - Please remember there are no food or drinks permitted in the Media Center.

Additional reminders:

• Visits last about 30 minutes.

• You are responsible for all missed class work and instruction.

• A pass back to class will be provided when the visit ends.

See your counselor with any questions.

If you have a student taking an AP course this year, please read our AP Information Letter and sign the Google Form verifying that you have read this information.

Additionally, if you have a student who is interested in self-studying for an AP exam (studying on their own outside of a class and paying for the corresponding exam), please have the student reach out to Karyn Dickerson, kdickerson@chccs.k12.nc.us.

Do you want to learn about ALL the Career Information Center (CIC) can offer you? Come out to the CIC Open House during Flex! Students will learn about CIC services - including jobs & internships, resume assistance, interview skills, career planning, CTE course info, work-based learning, and MUCH MORE! There is limited seating, so if the session is full one day, look for another -- this session will be offered Monday, September 22 and Wednesday, September 24.

The ASVAB will be given at CHHS on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 9:00am in the CIC. The ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. It is administered annually to more than one million military applicants, high school, and post-secondary students. For those that are not planning to join the military, the ASVAB is a great way to rate your aptitude for different careers. This test is open to ALL students grades 10-12. If you want to take this test you must register by completing this survey by Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Students must sign up with their CHCCS email address. Deadline to sign up is Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
