Dear MGA Families,
What a week it has been! While it certainly wasn’t the week any of us expected, I am incredibly proud of how our entire MGA community responded. A broken pipe may have shifted our plans, but it did not break our spirit. Thank you for your flexibility as we navigated one day off and a sudden transition to virtual learning for the remainder of the week.
I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our amazing teachers. With almost no notice, they pivoted seamlessly to virtual instruction to ensure meaningful learning continued. Their commitment and creativity truly shine in moments like these.
To our families: Thank You. I know this unexpected week at home required sacrifice, rearranged schedules, and a whole lot of patience. The countless messages of support you sent to teachers throughout the week were uplifting and spoke volumes about the heart of this community. MGA is strong because of you. As Fred Rogers wisely said, “We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say ‘It’s not my child, not my community, not my world.’ Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.” This week, our MGA community was full of heroes.
I also want to acknowledge and thank The Children’s Guild and AACPS. Their partnership, quick action, and precision ensured repairs were made safely and efficiently, allowing us to return to the building as quickly as possible. I am truly grateful for their unwavering support.
A special shout-out goes to our custodial team. They worked side by side with the restoration crew to make sure MGA is not only safe, but beautiful and ready for students. If you see them, please join me in offering a big “thank you.”
Through a stressful week, MGA was supported, cared for, and lifted up by every part of our community and we came through it together. On Monday, we return to a regular in-person school day. Other than the gym and media center, students will notice very little difference when they walk through our doors.
Families, thank you again for being the heart of MGA. Thank you for wrapping your arms around our school while managing the unexpected impacts on your homes and schedules. I am deeply grateful for each one of you.
With appreciation,
April Murphy
Principal, MGA
